Yeah I do the same in terms of saintsreport. I tend to post more on whodatzone, as I find the saintsreport forum itself a little too flooded with pointless threads(due to a very high membership), whereas wdz.com has a smaller one, which seems to be full of mostly very knowledgeable Saints fans. But the way sr.com organizes its news page is fantastic. The first thing I do when I get home from work is grab a snack, hit up saintsreport and spend half an hour reading the insane amount of daily articles they post on there since TC started.
PS- Sounds like its a good thing as far as Meachem is concerned that he's signed and in camp now, as apparently Henderson's been catching everything in sight.

I think Meachem will be fine, the mini camp debacle was a blessing in disguise, it got him to have surgery, get healthy, and get his contract done on time. Can't wait to see this offence in action, I think Johnson at tight end will be massive, if he can stay healthy of course, Brees made another pretty good tight end a star in his old stomping grounds.

If anybody's been following it, the Cory Simon and his status with the Colts just keeps getting weirder.

I agree about Eric Johnson, I think that is hands down our most underrated pickup of the offseason. I saw he had close to 900 yards in '04 before having injury problems the past couple years. There are just so many weapons on that Saints offence, I'm chomping at the bit for September 6th.
One guy I'm excited about getting a look at is Usama Young, the corner we took in the 3rd round out of Kent State. Sounds like a big, physical corner who also has the speed to keep up with quicker receivers, and reports say he's been turning heads in Saints camp so far. He wasn't even invited to the Combine but may turn out to be a steal(though I'll reserve judgement on that so far, I remember all the New Orleans scribes fawning over Mike Hass at this time last year and look how that turned out).
Of course I think Jason David will end up as the #2 CB when the regular season opens, but the Saints may have found their #1 corner of the future in Young to eventually replace McKenzie.

I like the Young draft. Jason David is fine for now, but we play alot of 2 deep and Jason David is a better zone CB. Of course he will be better than highway 22, but I still watch Seahawks games and wonder what could have been if we had drafted Trufant instead of Sullivan. Man, Haslett pi$$ed me off.

The Saints need to give their small school scouts a raise, as the guys they've drafted in the last two years have been phenomenal. With Young, Jones, Bushrod and Alleman likely to make the team, and compounding with Colston, Evans and Strief from the draft previous, the foundation of this org. has never been better. What an amazing shift in two years to the Payton philosophy of smart football players with high character, from the Haslett era of athlete over all else.

The NFL Network was showing the Cowboy camp last night - 11 on 11 drills. Whatever stadium they were in was half full. Deion Sanders was providing commentary from the sidelines. Just bizarre how much scrutiny there is now in the NFL.

They did the same thing for mini-camps back in May and June.

Interesting story on McNabb on ESPN.
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/traini...sal&id=2954226
Quote:
"It's the NFL -- 'Not For Long,'" McNabb said. "Everybody wants to get young, but I'm just older. I'm not old. I'm just older. Thirty is still young. I'm still dancing with the young kids. I don't look at it as though he's taking my job. So, it's not really a motivational factor for me to look over my shoulder. I prepare to go out so that we can win a Super Bowl. Now, whatever happens after this year, next year or whenever it is, it's really out of my control."
|
The article also mentions how he's wearing a brace for precautionary measures. I just really hope he doesn't push himself too hard and get injured again. Kolb won't be ready for probably 2 years so I hope he's not focusing too hard on the rearview mirror.

Are the Broncos snakebit this year, or what?

Damn that's funny, he couldn't get on the field other than short yardage last season. I like Reggie Bush

What's the general feeling among Saints fans? Is Reggie Bush going to feature a little more prominantly in the running game this year? Will he take a majority of the carries? I'd love to see him catch 100 balls too.

I am primarily a Redskins fans ever since I saw Rypiem lead them to the Super Bowl in 92. I love Joe Gibbs, but I hate the Snyder family. I really hate the Skins being the Flyers/Rangers of the NFL.
I think Joe will give it one to two more season depending on the progress of the team. That is 1 or 2 more seasons that that cold fish, Tuna.
QB situation is not very promising with Brunell, Campbell and Collins in the fold. Jordan Palmer maybe? Great receiving core again. Portis really has to show he is still stud RB. The defense will be improved, but unspectacular. Let the season begin!

Payton has been talking about using Reggie inside more, to keep defences honest. Payton is a bright guy formation wise, and now that Reggie has the speed of the game down, he'll likely see an increase in touches.

Reserved optimism I guess.
The team has been weak in the secondary for a long time. Last year they relied on pressure to reduce the burden of the corners. They have a 2nd year safty that may be all pro in a couple years, and they signed J David, however David is tiny, and unless they are working their way out of their 2 deep schemes I don't think they have solved their problem at corner.
Offence should be as strong as last year, they have a great underrated line, two backs that compliment each other perfectly, a good possetion reciever in Colston that can also run past people and if Henderson learns how to catch a football he could be a top tier deep threat.
The best news is that the NFC South looks a little soft and the NFC in general looks soft so that path at this point looks to be a little easier than for others.
