Did I miss something with Sweeney? When did she become a MAGA white hood?

Think they're referencing the American Eagle Ad campaign controversy:
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbi...ntroversy.html
An ad campaign with a word play on Great Jeans and Great Genes. It was likened to a eugenics campaign, because Sweeny is white? Someone who is largely considered to be one of the most beautiful people in the world has great genes...that's objectively true.
Even then the campaign is meant to poke fun at it, as she wasn't actually talking about her genes, she was talking about the jeans she was wearing. You just assumed it was about genes, as it was someone with objectively great genes who was saying it.

What? It is not objectively true that she has great genes. How does anyone even quantify that?
Whether or not the criticism of the campaign was justified it prompted people to ask a lot of questions about whether or not it was inappropriate message given the current political climate.
Her family is maga and so is she. Not that that necessarily means that she’s guaranteed to be a white supremacist but it certainly raises a lot of questions about her participation in that ad. Especially considering her comments afterwards when she had a chance to try and downplay the impact.

I honestly couldn’t believe people liked it. It was easily as bad as most of the other crappy DCU movies that Gunn was supposed to reboot. Fantastic Four wasn’t groundbreaking but at least it was somewhat coherent and entertaining.

Yeah, it was garbage and, like many others I was astonished....
"People liked this? Why?"

The clone thing being controlled by Lex Luthor yelling out fight commands like a VR game was comical.
Imagine taking your elderly parents or grandparents who remember old school superman to that modernized garbage.

There has been no better Superman movies than the first 2 Christopher Reeves ones. It’s sad that they think they can top it.

Thunderbolts* was fun I liked it. Some good practical effects, felt like a bit more old-school Marvel movie. Sentry is a cool addition. Liked the after-credit scene.

I don't think anything has come close to the first Batman Movie either, the attempt to make movies based on kids comics 'adult' with dark origin themes just makes for dumb movies

I'm going to the new Running Man tomorrow, I'm ridiculously excited for it. I'm a huge fan of the original but Edgar Wright is one of my favorite directors and while Glen Powell is no Arnie I still think it will be fun. I just hope they keep the ending song from the original

I realize many of us get on Al Gore's internet and say all manner of crazy things but you do recognize that the two Keaton Batman films were, especially for the time, fully "adult" and dark right?

I just watched the original as Walmart has the 4K for a decent price.
Still a blast!

Three more in flight movies (this was a long one).
Naked Gun - loved it! Was sceptical but they nailed it. Going to have to watch again as I feel like I missed a lot of visual jokes on the tiny screen.
Ballerina - fun John Wick movie, but it started to drag on a bit. This style of movie starts to wear thin after 90 mins…. but it was also about 2am Calgary time when I was watching, so that could have played into it. Ana plays a great ass kicker.
Black Bag - kind of boring. Seemed like they couldn’t decide if they wanted a Spy movie or a murder mystery type movie. Could have been better but was meh.

Oh yes, I would say they started the whole 'pretend a kids story is actually really deep and adult' but what made the movie was Nicholson hamming the crap out of it, he played it like he was straight out of the TV series, violent as all get out but always playing it for laughs

Speaking of Sweeney.... her movie 'Christy' just suffered one of the worst opening weekend box office bombs ever.
Quote:
Christy, in which Sydney Sweeney plays real-life boxer Christy Martin, grossed just $1.3 million domestically its opening weekend, an average of $646 per theater, which puts it in the bottom 10 of wide-released movies ever, given that it opened in 2,184 theaters around the country. That is an 11th place opening, losing to #10, Tron Ares, which was released a month ago on October 10.
According to box office charts, this makes Sweeney’s Christy the ninth worst opening for a movie in over 2,000 theaters, behind a number of movies you have likely never heard of, like Hitpig, The King’s Daughter, Delgo, and more.

Probably not the top pick for the next Bond girl.

Girlfriend likes espionage movies so we watched Black Bag because it's 96% on RT. Not a terrible movie but what are some of these reviewers drinking? It's an okay way to spend 90 minutes but 7/10 at best and I found Cate Blanchett's new face incredibly distracting.

I went to see that Jennifer Lawrence Pattinson movie. Don’t remember the title. Fell asleep then woke up realizing I had missed too much and walked out half way through. Got a good nap in though.

I love how Ruby Rose is completely bashing her, says Sweeny ruined the movie and Christie deserved better.
The only thing I've seen her in was that horrendous Madame Web movie, watched out of morbid curiosity and it was actually worse than expected. Sweeny manages to be even more terrible than the rest of the cast.
