The Bouchard offer sheet from Carolina was reported to be just 1x$12.5.

it would be pretty tempting if Edmonton offered up their 2 young up and coming superstars in Savoie and Howard. There combined 5 points this year are pretty impressive.

No Good goalie worth his weight is going to sign to play in Edmonton, especially with McFlythzone, and Leon McBumbles playing in front of him, and Bouchbombski playing on the Blueline. that's just an invitation for Rubber Sickness.
No GM is going to trade a goalie to Edmonton for cheap, they know how desparate the Oilers are.
Do the Oilers really have the assets to trade for anyone decent? Should they, I mean the window is almost closed, do they need to start hording draftpicks for the eventuallity of Conna McLeavethenest um leaving Edmonton.
Watching Savoie, he's clearly not ready and he's not that level of special that a tiny girly man needs to be to survive in the NHL. Howard shows flashes, but he would benefit with a confidence building trip to the AHL.
Bouchard is just a source of constant hilarity, He's not a 10 million dollar blueliner, he's not as Edmonton fans claim the 6th best defenseman in the league. He's a pp specialist that's mostly big shot, with the IQ of a box of cornflakes, and the defensive awareness of a inanimate Carbon Rod. He's maybe a $6 million dollar a year player at best. Now they're someday like Nurse going to have to sell low on him.
But . . . don'tcha know, according to Edmonton fans the season was turned around last night against Columbus with Conna McMule hoisting the mighty oilers on his broad shoulders and starting the long carry to the Stanley Cup finals.

As much as it sucks for the Oilers to win a game ever, I think it helps towards the perfect scenario of them finishing just out of the playoffs and ending up with a mid-range pick.

The Oilers traded their 2026 first round pick to San Jose for Jake Walman (lol). It's top-12 protected, so here's hoping for a 13th - 16th place finish.

I'd prefer the finish 17th place by missing the playoffs by one point where the last game of the season they get shut out 3-0 where both McPowerplay and Crysaitle go -3. That's how I hope it plays out.

in the playoffs!?!?!?! forget it.... the last two years teams just stop playing to let them keep on winning rounds
i would love it to come down to the final game of the season for the final playoff spot. oilers are in as long as some other team doesn't tie them in points becuz the other team has the tie breaker.
the other team gets down early and it looks like a guaranteed loss but then the refs start 'gifting' the losing team powerplays and right at the end of regulation the other team ties it forcing o.t.
overtime sees 'the other team' win on a some completely ridiculous fluke goal
so early in the game the oilers are packing their things to get ready for round 1
then later in the game they need to hit pause while the refs work their magic
then in o.t. they need to unpack their bags as the hockey gods finally give the rest of the league a 'good bounce'
oh the salt would be fantastic - no playoffs for the oil and i think no chance at the lottery becuz they were too "good"

Flames play the Kings in the last game of the year. So let's make it the Kings we let get the win in OT that knocks the Oilers out of the playoffs, while the single point for the Flames pushes us into the spot that wins the lottery.
Since the Oilers will have no choice but to trade their 2027 1st this year for help, the 2026 they gave to San Jose will become unprotected. Thus adding stress between trade deadline and the lottery while the Oilers hover on the playoff line.
Then lets have San Jose win the 2nd lottery and move up 10 spots to 6th, just to add extra salt in the wound.

It is hilarious to me that you would cheer for this when you were actively cheering for the flames to finish 15-17 last year and lose their own pick. Such wild doublespeak. lol.

Utter nonsense. Nobody, myself included, was cheering for the Flames to finish 15-17. You seriously came into the E=NG to be antagonistic? Give your head a shake.

It was only when it became clear the team wasn't going to finish bottom 10 that people started cheering for the pick to be as low as possible because:
1) It meant they made the playoffs.
2) The further it was from 10 the less it stung.
3) The closer it was to New Jersey's pick the less it felt like they missed out on a better player.

I’d like the oilaz to be eliminated from the playoffs mathematically asap but Mavi and pissy are close to personal records so they start to play 30 minutes per night, every night. This propels the oilaz to the cusp of the playoffs however having been mathematically eliminated, they fall short regardless.

Or they finish 12th last (picking a dud with it) and they give up the 2027 pick unprotected and they finish last (or just behind the Flames in 2nd last). Or the Flames trade Andersson to SJ for it.

Yeah, before it was made though it was easier for people to digest because it was so close to where they would have picked anyway.
Had it been close to a lottery pick we would have had even more whining about losing it.
Once we knew they were giving up the pick we just needed to suck it up and hope for the best case scenario. It wasn't the best which would have been playoffs but it wasn't the worst either.

Oilers are such a genuinely curious group, it's not often you see a complete absence of a logical surplus or trade value throughout their organization.
They have this wild valley between the dudes who you absolutely cannot trade if you expect to get better this year (McDavid, Draisaitl, Bouchard, Ekholm, etc) and dudes who have absolutely no value so it doesn't matter because you're not getting anything for them anyways (Nurse, Frederic, etc).
I keep seeing their local media talk about what kind of package it would take for Saros and it's just absolute trash. They're going to need to get wildly creative if they want to materially improve this roster and I just don't understand how that'll happen right now.
