I compare him to Giroux. Solid 2 way game, great playmaker but not the biggest guy

My kid has done:
- Boris Dorzhenko - Auston Matthews phoenix coach. Bizarre stuff what he does but super cool.

I cannot tell which makes him better or worse. It is extremely not simple.

It is not this one size fits all thing. It is way more complex like Tkachuk was just being arrogant. You can't just add a dash of Fujita.

And to add, east west is way more important. I will swear by it but Daryl Belfry is the best skills coach on the planet, and the best players agree. His camps are revelatory and amazing just to watch. His camps are pricy but multiple people record them.

He doesn't even do children things anymore, just NHLers. Flames need to acquire him.

I coached my son's hockey last year and used a number of his drills on IHS. He's outstanding. Great communicator too

Reschny+Bahl for Markstrom or Gridin+Brzustewicz for Lindholm. Which will end up being the better of the 2 deals? Pretty hard to argue any other moves being as good as these have looked.

He's just responsible. He wins battles. He defends hard. He stops in front and boxes guys out. He's just got so much maturity to his game."
Love reading this - there is more to evaluating players than just points.

Conroy isn't rebuilding!

I am trying to not get my hopes up too much for McKenna, but imagine a line of: McKenna - Reschny - Gridin for the next 15 years!

To answer your question, I'll choose the Markstrom trade, simply because we already had Wolf, so moving Markstrom was simply good asset management.

Very mature quotes from Reschny:

"I'm just trying to stick to my game," Reschny said. "Obviously, you want to score as many goals as you can and put out numbers on the offensive side. But the way I play, I'm trying to stick to my 200-foot game, play the right way defensively and trust my instincts offensively."

"It's huge for me to get those reps," Reschny said. "I take pride in penalty killing and winning as many draws as I can. Obviously, starting with the puck is a huge thing and getting those clears on the penalty kill. It's huge to get those opportunities and I'm very grateful for it. I'll do whatever I can to help the team out when I get those opportunities."

"The way I've always played is taking pride in that 200-foot style of play," Reschny said. "That means playing as hard as I can in the defensive zone, making sure we're not getting scored upon before going to score goals."

Reschny is 74 for 118, ~62% in the faceoff circle through 10 games.

He sounds like a coach's dream. If you play a 200 foot game, your offensive production will benefit just by playing less in your own zone, plus the coach will trust you with more ice-time. It's the NHL mindset that a lot of young players don't adopt for a while.

I would say there's a pretty good chance. If Kadri is gone, I'd say it's a very good chance.

(I am working on the assumption that it's either Flames or NCAA - doubt he goes pro to play on the Wranglers, might as well stay where he is)

I think he probably wants to.

I wouldn't be surprised if he's looking at Ben Kindel and going "I was just as good as that guy and he's doing pretty well in the NHL"

The AHL is another big step up from the NCAA and the NHL as big step up from the AHL. The natural progression for Reschny is to play at least one year in the AHL and continue to refine his game as the players and pace get faster.

Stenberg or McKenna + Reschny getting added to the roster next season would be very fun. I imagine Gridin becomes a mainstay as well. Toss in a full-season of a matured Parekh along Brzustewicz and Conroy's youth push becomes smashingly evident.

Quite the pickle Conroy has when it comes to middle-six forwards though. This has me thinking Conroy's next 8 months is going to be very busy after a pretty extended quiet stretch.

Well, if Farabee and/or Frost work out at all the Lindholm trade still looks pretty good.

In quite short order it could be:

McKenna-Reschny-Gridin
Huberdeau-Frost-Coronato
Farabee-Backlund-Honzek
Basha-Pospisil-Klapka

Kuz-Parekh
Bahl-Weegar
Hanley/Cicek-Pachal (or whomever)

Wolf
Cooley

Plus you are adding better prospects as a result of moving Kadri, Rasmus, Coleman and maybe Sharangovich or Pospisil. Plus the draft picks Calgary will get just by being bad a couple more years. you add a 2C, move Frost to 3C and Backs finishes out like Stajan, as a veteran 4C.

Yeah, I really do think it gets exciting real quick if the team does choose to embrace this down year and move on from Kadri, Coleman, and Andersson.

If we look at Kadri, and pick Montreal - I don't think it's insane to look at Beck + 1st as the base for a deal.

Move to Andersson and Coleman - Dallas makes sense, retain on both and 1st in '27 + Hemming with a cap dump coming back to us could make sense (Lybushkin?). Andersson brings in a 1st + (value) and Coleman retained brings back a 1st in my eyes as well.
