I wonder if this means the 2028 season will have a pause in August? Also, perhaps good news for Canada's chances to medal in the competition.

Even though the cfl designates the home team based on where the grey cup is being held, west representative is home if game is in a west division city and vice versa if hosted in the east, the cfl has decided to change the rule. Apparently. No one really knows for sure how or why but it changed today.

So Montreal will wear home and riders white.

Bombers don't want Riders in their room?

I think it’s probably because there are gonna be 4 straight western grey cups but that would be funny.

Riders gave up their room to the bombers a couple years ago.

Exactly right.

This change was made because at least four straight Grey Cups will be played in the same half of the country — Vancouver in 2024, Winnipeg in 2025, Calgary in 2026, and Regina in 2027. Rather than force the East Division champions to be the away team for four straight years, they will now “host” in 2025 and 2027. The West Division winner will remain the home team next year at McMahon Stadium.

Could that create a situation where the Roughriders could be in the 2027 Grey Cup but unable to use their own room?

No. There’s a provision that home team making grey cup gets their own room.

Funny enough until 2007 it alternated. The host division being home has only been around since then.

Having the host division be home really is kind of stupid unless they grey cup host city alternates east to west each year.

I don’t understand why they don’t just make the team with the better record the home team. But I guess alternating years is fine too.

I think I’d want to see some actual evidence as to why it’s bad. Teams will spend themselves into bankruptcy. Salary caps help even the playing field. Maybe it needs an increase in both $$ and # of personnel but I see no reason to eliminate it.

I don't have an issue with the salary cap for players, but the operations cap the CFL brought in several years ago diluted the coaching talent and in my opinion, teams should not be constrained on how much they want to spend on coaches.

Wasn't Saskatchewan doing something sketchy that precipitated the whole operations cap in the first place? I don't exactly remember, but I think Chris Jones was involved.

Now that MOS has met with the Argos, the Ti-Cats have also asked for permission to talk to him and Danny McManus.

I believe a player complained that they told him he had to go on IR but he didn’t want to. CFL was doing that #### for years before the nhl caught on.

That had nothing to do with the salary cap being instituted though. In fact I think it happened because of the cap.
