It's much worse than just bad 'puck luck' (god I hate that saying).
Coaching? Systems? Contagious what-ever-Farabee has?

They need ~85~ pts to make the playoffs, roughly 40-20-5, 38-18-9, or 41-21-3 from here on out.

In past bad years I would get mad after losses even though I knew they weren't making the playoffs. Now I feel nothing and just shake my head.
My interest this year has dropped too. I used to watch every game regardless of how bad the team was because they were atleast somewhat entertaining. This year it feels like torture getting through a game so I've skipped most of them or turn it off as soon as the other team scores.

This is not the right way to play. We are taking young guys who have a scoring history and coaching any offensive instincts right out of them.
Can't wait to finish dead last, and draft a bust at #3.

That's a BIG assumption that we will land one of them...and one decent player does not a Stanley Cup Champion (or even a contender) make.
Edit: Enjoy the tank...hope you're not a STH.

The Huska system is torture to watch. Combined with not playing the young players very often and you have a mix resulting in hard to watch games.

1) You’re on a 6 on 5 with the goalie pulled and somehow you leave your teammate 1 on 3 on the side boards.
2) I appreciate Huska in general. However, at some point you have to realize that an offense centered around blue line shots doesn’t work. He keeps repeating that they need to get in the crease. But the team is showing you they’re not fit for that. And blue line shots are low percentage to begin with, so you can’t just say ‘well we didn’t get in the crease’ as some reason why those shots don’t go in.
Come on coach. Don’t just tell the players to ‘play harder.’ Time to use your strength in attention to details, learn, and adjust your approach.

The team is on pace for 173 goals, which would put it as the 3rd worst offensive team over the last 10 years. Only the Avs in 16/17 (166 goals) and Wings in 19/20 (145 goals over 71 games) were worse in goal production.
If it gives any hope, Colorado scored 91 more goals in their following season and by 20/21, were the top offensive team in the league. I wonder how they managed that.

I'm the most concerned about Zary. Two points this season and not a whole lot last year after coming back from the knee injury.
Not even close to the same player. Did show glimpses of himself in period 3, but has lost all consistency and ability on the forecheck.

He looks like he's playing to avoid contact....that's just not gonna work in this league.

No tank team is fun to watch. I don't know what some are expecting. The Ducks had Dallas Eakins as a coach for God's sake and he didn't "ruin" all their young guys like some are projecting Huska is going to do. They will keep losing, keep drafting and when they are ready to get better they will hire a better coach. This is a couple of years away by the way.

You can definitely open it up and play less boring hockey, but yeah it's never going to be super fun watching a team lose every night.
And 2 years is very optimistic. I see it likely as a 4 year turnaround at the minimum.

That was a tough loss, mainly because it seemed like the game was over as soon as it became 1-0.
All in all, it was an impressive game by Cooley.
The 4th line was playing with a lot of jump and creating chances.
The Huberdeau line was probably the best line. He and Coronato had a couple of really good looks.
Kuznetsov played well, he is casually making small plays, using his size, stick, and positioning. I want to see more.
The Kadri line sucked tonight, as did the PP, and the 6 on 5.
The Backlund line was mostly good at pushing play, and generating chances, but they have no finish. I really like Coleman and Honzek on that line, but the captain seems like he's slowing down.
I'm just glad that a rebuild, and a high pick, are inevitable at this point. Which means we'll get to see a lot more young guys in the lineup towards the end of the year, and in the foreseeable future.

Tuesday's against the Blues is a big one. But the Flames are quite far behind - even a win in regulation would leave them solidly behind the Blues.
