American fans don't give a damn about MOAR GOALS being scored by a Canadian team.

He's just one of those guys that has a gift to play hockey that otherwise would be serving coffee and donuts at a Tim Hortons or something.

I’ve said it before, he’s been planning his exit for many years and the Oilers are fully aware of the plans. Recall there were midseason meetings with him the club and his representatives a few times, pre and post Covid. In those, years ago he said to the Oilers that they should plan for the fact that he was leaving after this current contract was over but if not, it was going to be up to him if he wanted to extend it and how.
The Oilers listened and stacked things up over those next years and got (too) close.
So, now he takes a short extension (couldn’t take a one year deal, the questions wouldn’t stop) and a cheap AAV.
There was no handwringing from the team over the summer nor was he fussed, everyone involved knows it was happening for a while and it was all part of the plan, just the press and shortsighted fans got in a tizzy. They are somewhat fortunate to still have him still.
Now other teams are on notice to have two years or less to make the required cap space for him to sign the mega deal, and he will have full say where he gets traded to. In the mean time he coasts a bit on the ice so he can get to that end point safe and sound.
He’s gone in Summer 2027 no matter what, but if the Oilers and McDavids camp can get a good trade for him before that (NMC’s and all) to a desired location, he’s gone. Maybe even this summer.

McDavid's contract actually expires in 2028. Other than that, you're spot on.

I know that. He’s gone by/in Summer 2027.
He and the club were fully prepared for the under the radar offseason this offseason, only when the August golf tourneys started did the chatter start from the press about him being unsigned.
He won’t do that again, or go into that 27/28 season with questions every practice about another extension. He won’t play that last year of this contract in Edmonton.

I'm not sure I agree. I don't think he's going to be nearly as hot a commodity as he might think he is, and nothing like as hot as the media imagines. One year of McDavid before he bolts to greener pa$ture$ is not worth a ransom in assets. The Oilers might wind up biting the bullet and keeping him as an own rental.

He will continue his orchestration of his situation. Wherever he goes will be of course come with the inclusion of signing a long term deal with that team.
Also, it will have to be a team with a lot of picks or entry level contracts without NMC’s because getting multiple decent players on said team to waive their NMCs to go to Edmonton (in this case in exchange for McDavid), is and has always been as popular as root canals.

If McDavid wants to win, he'd be better leaving as a free agent than stripping his new team of assets in a trade. McDavid holds the cards with his no trade contract, too. He could say he will only go to one team and really limit the return.

Yeah I think that’s a given. Oiler fans and short sighted Oiler friendly media will be expecting a haul like Gretzky.
They’ll get something, as mentioned picks and younger players, but nowhere near what would be considered a haul because the good players won’t waive.
But again the Oilers and McDavids camp, in my opinion, have that understanding on how this is going to go, with McDavids camp likely giving a few options for teams.
The Oilers again are aware of this coming and figuring out what it is they will be getting in return will be better than nothing, when the time comes, and have to fully spin it to the fans.

4-0 on 13 shots.
Skinner out - is there another goalie that gets pulled more than Skinner?

Fans wanting the chance to meet their favourite Edmonton Oilers players will have the opportunity to do so later this month ✍️
The Oilers first started doing this fun fan event back in 2011. Once again, the event will be returning to West Edmonton Mall, where Oilers players will be seated to sign autographs and have a quick interaction with fans‼️
Fans attending the event should note that there are a number of different rules to follow, including that each individual is only allowed one autograph per player. There will also be no posed photograph opportunities ❌
As has been the case for several years, Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl will have their own autograph stations. The first 300 fans in line at the two respective stations will be guaranteed access to their tables. Fans should also note that McDavid will only be signing custom Upper Deck photos, which will be provided at the table Thursday November 27, 6-8 pm.

Just saw the scores from tonight. Lol, wow. Love seeing the Oilers get s*** kicked by a far superior team. What a garbage team, haha.
I also find it hilarious that the lone Oiler goal was on the McPP, because of course it was. Bunch o’ losers.
