My 11 year old LOVES movies like i do, but when he looked at me after it was done and said, "What the hell was that?", you know it's bad.

With the new Stephen King IT spinoff TV show I watched both the IT movies yesterday (about 10 years late at this point).
The first one is Stand By Me with body horror. I loved it. Really liked the kids, the relationships, and the genuine fear factor. 8/10
The second one was like 3 hours and it felt like they shoe horned in much of the first movie as though people wouldn't have seen it. I liked the performances of Hader and Chastain, but again the kid scenes were many of the highlights. By the end it felt pretty tedious and as though "make the clown bigger!" was the strategy. Would give it 6/10 at most.
I've read that both films are faithful to the book - which I have now ordered. I am looking forward to the TV show.

The first one is better, for sure. Tim Curry as Pennywise is just too good.

When do we get the Crossover between 'Welcome to Derry' and 'Derry Girls?'
I think Sister Michael could take Pennywise all by herself...if she were so inclined.

Yeah, not the thread for it, but if you enjoyed the movies and horror generally, I cannot recommend the TV show more. First couple episodes were 10/10 for me.

I’m enjoying it as well. I’m a big fan of the two most recent films, and I love that they kept the same overall aesthetic and tone for the series. Pretty great so far.

Against my better judgment, started watching the Pitt. I have never really gotten into medical dramas and I really don't care to see human bodies mutilated or operated on.
That said, it is pretty good. Starting to drag a little after several episodes but there are some interesting threads dangling. The main characters central trauma isn't really drawing me in yet.

I watched a fantastic anime from the 90s Memories. It's really 3 short stories in 1 film, the first one Magnetic Rose was by far my favorite, a rescue team goes to a spaceship that let out an SOS and all is not what it seems. Fantastic animation and creepy atmosphere I wish this was a full 2hr movie it's self I loved it. The 2nd one Stink Bomb was decent but my least favorite and the 3rd one Cannon Fodder was also fantastic. The animation was reminiscent of a classic Ralph Bakshi film, and the story was perhaps the most bleak even out to animation. Highly recommend this.

I haven't seen any Jurassic movies since the original and don't really plan to. I saw the original Jurassic Park at North Hill Cinema, high as kite and it was one of the most amazing movie viewing experiences of my life. I've put that away in a vault never to be touched or sullied by any other Jurassic movies since.

So...I watched 'Good Fortune' with Keanu, Aziz and Seth Rogen.
Its an interesting premise but...man I found it boring. I like the cast, well, except Rogen, but it was just...predictable, not very funny and boring as hell. And I generally am no fan of Rogen.
4/10 and thats being generous. I found it a slog to get through. It took actual effort to finish.
I get the message that they were trying to convey but they were pretty ham-fisted about it. It seemed very overly-Pavlovian..."this is joke. You laugh here!"

Went to watch Predator with a hot child predator at chinook. 7.5 I'd say.
Also realized if you do IMAX you probably don;t have to pay if you go in early enough. They do not check tickets or anything.

Agree with all points. Good movie, but it's PG-13 Predator for a Disney audience. No human fatalities, no humans even present in the movie.
Shockingly it's 7.5/10 and Elle Fanning absolutely crushes it.

I'm a huge fan of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein (1994), so I was a bit skeptical going into this one, but it's really good. The monster isn't as raw looking as I think it should be, but other than that it's a good re-telling.

I watched A Complete Unknown last night. Not my favourite music biopic, but Timothee Chalamet really did become Bob Dylan.

I don’t know what I was expecting. For some reason seeing Marvel trot out the template for the 1000th time just broke me a little bit. I get it, intro to super heroes, main city/country/earth destroying conflict, big city destroying set piece where the heroes are in danger but there’s no actual stakes because they’re not *actually* ever in danger, light emotional beat, heroes overcome, the end.
I like most of the actors in it and thought they all did a perfectly lifeless job totally unbecoming of their individual talents.
Anyways probably worth watching if for some reason you just love the Fantastic Four or want a movie on the TV while you’re doing something else.

The aesthetic was remarkable. Sadly, that's probably all I'll take away from it.
I'm a Marvel fan but I'm getting burnt out on the formula.
