I agree...and I'm a 'Hawk fan. The skate blade advancing is the danger. The sad part, I think that if that was against a team that the league wanted to hype more, that one wouldn't have counted. (Yes, I believe that the NHL conspires...how else would Toronto or the Greasers get so many favorable calls?)

That would be a good opportunity for Sharangovich/Klapka to play with Zary - Kadri

I think that we just saw a make up call. If they called that one hand reach.

This team is so afraid to take risks.
Dont trust Parekh alone on PP 1 so put Anderson with him and take Kadri off that unit.

Anderrson is playing so bad this year. Hopefully the scouts aren't here to watch him.

Stealth Chicago Blackhawks penalty killer Yegor Sharangovich with an excellent clear, and PP killing shift.

What's funny about the rule book is, it says you can't intentionally direct the puck into the net with anything other than your stick.
Quote:
|
When the puck has been directed, batted or thrown into the net by an attacking player other than with a stick. When this occurs, if it is deemed to be done deliberately, then the decision shall be NO GOAL. A goal cannot be scored when the puck has been deliberately batted with any part of the attacking player’s body into the net.
|
The "distinct kicking motion" language only applies to when the puck deflects off the player's skate.
Quote:
|
A puck that deflects into the net off an attacking player’s skate who does not use a distinct kicking motion is a legitimate goal. A puck that is directed into the net by an attacking player’s skate shall be a legitimate goal as long as no distinct kicking motion is evident.
|
Arguably, the goal shouldn't have counted because it went off his shin, which means a distinct kicking motion isn't required for it to be disallowed.
The only other factor is if it hit his stick after it hit his leg on its way into the net because that would make it okay (the rules are stupid sometimes).

Warner was right, they don't look like they're talking to each other on the PP.

There's just really no elite skill on this team, or creativity. Lots of decent 3rd liners, but nary a 1st liner to be found.
It's what a bad/rebuilding/tanking team looks like. Tough for them to score unless it's traffic in front, banging and crashing, etc.

Special teams in general
Flames are at 52.4% xGF at 5v5 which ranks 8th
When you include all situations that drops to 47.0% which ranks 26th
Horrible at special teams, 3v3, and with the nets empty.

Strange because the Hawks have had the 8th overall, 3rd, 12th, 6th, 1st, 2nd, 3rd picks since 2018.

I'd actually argue that Huberdeau is playing like a $10M player this year. There's definitely some skill. We have yet to use the shots of either Coronato, or Sharangovich. Most of the play revolves around attempting to set Kadri up.
