While playing up AEW’s identity as a “challenger brand” rather than a legitimate competitor, Danielson continued to act mystified by the approach TKO/WWE is taking toward his current employer. But he did lay out one reason many believe the larger outfit wants to limit AEW’s growth or end their existence entirely: wrestler compensation. In the process, he makes a big claim about how much of its revenue AEW pays out to talent:
“AEW existing and being this challenger brand and being as successful as we’ve been has changed the landscape for wrestling for the wrestlers themselves.
“Wrestlers are being paid more now than ever. From a sports rights perspective — so for example, most major sports in the United States, the players get anywhere between 40% to 50% of the revenue. And WWE was paying their wrestlers nowhere close to that…
“AEW does pay that 40% to 50% of their revenue to their wrestlers and despite making much less money. I mean, our TV rights deal was incredible, but we’re still the challenger brand catching up on however many years WWE’s had. But they do have to pay more, because if they don’t, the talent is going to leave and go to AEW. AEW does pay that 40% to 50% of their revenue to their wrestlers. You know, despite making much less money. I mean… our TV rights deal was incredible, but we’re still the challenger brand catching up on however many years WWE has.”

With WrestleMania confirmed in Saudi Arabia, it makes me wonder how long before the super bowl is hosted there.

Pretty excited for the weekend. Hate that the brands are overlapping but there’s 2 solid cards this Saturday. Funny enough seeing a lot of people talking about AJ Lee negatively. Not sure why, she was a trendsetter for the division and now there’s a really great division on almost every promotion.

Oh man, say it ain’t so. But I could totally see it. Wonder if a Eurasian division ever happens in my lifetime.

I'd think London first, but probably sometime down the road.

Once it happens in London (and it will), Saudi Arabia will be very close behind it.

I don't know if a Super Bowl will...it's too big of a showcase for the league and their sponsors to potentially go to Saudi for that. As well as the time change.
WWE can make it work.

All Out was fantastic top to bottom. Now on to Palooza. Been an okay show so far. I still hate all these ads, I feel like a urinal video ad just exploded on my TV.

Little bit of ring rust for AJ Lee but it worked. That black widow submission is the RKO of submissions. Can happen out of nowhere.

That Iyo Stephanie was a contender for match of the year.
The AJ Punk Seth Becky match was a hell of a lot of fun, I think I would be positive that TJ booked that match, it had a ton of call backs to the old Stampede Wrestling tag team matches.
Yeah, AJ was really rusty at the start, but she settled down, I'm amazed on that table collapse that she didn't break something.
Pretty fun ppv though.

Didn't know where else to put this:
Province renames Elbow River bridge on Highway 8 after Stu Hart
https://calgaryherald.com/news/provi...tm_source=news
Quote:
A highway bridge that crosses the Elbow River has been renamed after Stu Hart, the family patriarch who put Calgary wrestling on the map.
The westbound Highway 8 span will be known as the Stu Hart Memorial Bridge, provincial officials announced Wednesday.
|
Quote:
|
“This bridge is just a short distance from the Hart House, a legendary training grounds where generations of wrestlers learned the ropes,” said Transportation Minister Devin Dreeshen. “It’s only fitting that we celebrate this permanent reminder of Stu and his family, and their contributions to Alberta.”
|
...this is actually really cool. Well deserved for the Hart family!

In my opinion, the Vision killed all the momentum that WWE built up before rasslemania. Since then it's been really meh.
Cena's farewell tour or whatever was botched badly with heel turns and a really bad face turn afterwards.
There was tons and tons of hype around AJ Lee and then just poof, she's vaporized into thin air.
HHH seems to have wandered into the weeds creatively and doesn't seem to know a way out.

I think it was more Cena story that killed things and people holding titles too long is killing things too
Drew should have beat Cody at some point here.
Seth had that title too long before, so it felt like a rehash of his prior run.
You don't want your title belts to bounce around too much, but not everyone needs to hold the title for a full year either.
Still think the issue with the Cena thing too was he had no reason to be a heel. He should have lost at Chamber - it should have been framed as Cody vs Punk and then Cena should have turned on Cody / Punk and turned to the The Rock to give him his place in the WM match.
Cena would have had an actual reason to be heel. You would have had Cena vs Cody vs Punk which would have been a better quality wrestling match too. And could have given Reigns vs Rollins the 1:1 match they deserve too. Also kind of keeps the Rock out of the story long term - because him and Cena were never a deep faction just two guys using each other to get their way - Cena needed Rock to get into WrestleMania - Rock wanted Cena to take the belt off Cody.
The whole last true champion and take the belt with him thing never made sense either. Should have just been more that Cena was jealous of Cody, and wasn't ready to give his spot up yet, but he should have pretty much still just acted like Super Cena that had the fans booing him anyways, except cheating to win instead of being honorable.

Blame The Rock and Travis Scott for that. They could have still did a heel turn without either involved. Once they vanished the whole point of him turning heel didn't make sense anymore. They would have probably had both eventually turn on him which made him go back to being a face.
AJ Lee is on a book tour and is supposed to be back soon for Survivor Series.

It's become a depressingly repetitive product. Everything feels the same, and there's no change of direction coming. Every show starts off with a long promo (usually Rollins, Heyman, Cody, or Drew), then it ends with a contract signing or dusty interference based finish in a multi-man match (this applies to AEW as well). The product has gone beyond stale, and it feels like the same six guys are always in the main event (Vision, Cody, Punk, Drew, Jey).
Logan Paul entering the fold was a nice change of pace, but it'll probably end in defeat at Survivor Series, and then he'll be off television again. I was looking forward to the Jacob Fatu.push, but now he's out of action. Drew desperately needs a title run, and I think LA Knight deserves a chance as well. I love Punk, but Knight needs to be put over.
The only interesting part is the US Open Challenge, but I hope they don't muck around with Solo too much. Let's see fresh faces go for the title, not the same tired Bloodline 3.0 that just isn't very interesting. Oh and Dominik is a total star, I can't get enough of him. I marked out huge for his "keep my father's name out of your mouth" line. He's the most consistently entertaining entertaining worker in the business right now. I think in the long term he needs to be the one that retires Rey.
