Meaning no offence at all to Lukas Reichel, but this is the kind of trade we can look to see this early in the season: spare parts traded for spare change. Bigger pieces aren't going to move until teams have more time to see what they've got and what they need.

Reichel still has potential. Issues with the Blackhawks aside. Good deal for the Canucks, IMO.

Pretty solid pickup for the Canucks. Don’t give much for potential

Bit of an odd trade. Reichel was only drafted 5 years ago, with the 17th overall, and has 4 points in 5 games this year.

I guess it looks like they wanted to trade him earlier. He didn't quite make their cut in camp, but they highlighted in the NHL for a few games to get some value instead of waiving?

Edit: Some further research shows that Reichel might have issues with the coaches concerning his maturity and consistency.

Great buy low for Vancouver for sure. Was seen as a core piece at one time for Chicago, his AHL numbers are really strong, and spurts of production in the NHL too.

Yeah, I dunno about this being a good move for Vancouver. Probably because I don't see Reichel as a guy that'll make any difference for them any how and Canucks management seem to love trading picks out, which is going to end badly for them. Like, if they want to make a move, make it an impactful one as opposed to adding a guy like Reichel.

It’s a next to 0 risk move. 4th rounders rarely pan out. Makes just above what you could bury him in the minors if it goes that bad. RFA at end of year. Maybe he pops in Vancouver. If not, don’t qualify him.

Tidy piece of business by Allvin/Rutherford.

And Lukas'/Lucas' are not the force they used to be, either.

0 points in 7 games, a -6.

The 4th round pick has better production so far.

It's not that surprising. He's a first round pick so GMs will always take a look but at this point, the player is likely what he's shown at his age.

Meh, was a low risk bet by Vancouver.

He's actually generating a lot of chances. His shot is below NHL level, he has hands of stone, can't win a draw to save his life and has the defensive awareness of a new-born cow but it's not for lack of trying on his part. I'm fine with the acquisition cost, but in the end it's on management for not having an actual plan after JT Miller left. Letting Pius Suter walk is looming quite large right now.

A fully grown cow will circle up to defend the herd and itself in the wild. Baby cow's will just let you walk off with them. Just not defensive awareness. Poor things. Bunch of little Reichels.
