Mews is done for the year. 9 points in 10 games as a freshman before taking an ugly hit against Notre Dame on Saturday.

So what was the injury? Brutal news on Mews considering how much growth he was showing.

Kinda hard to see. It looks like Mews moved to get out of the way and the checker threw his left knee into Mews' knee at the last moment?

The hitter was Sutter Muzzatti, son of Flames 1st round pick Jason Muzzatti

No specifics from the team beyond it being season-ending but it looks knee-on-knee to me

No call on the play? It looked like Sutter raised his knee to hit Mews. Dirty.

That's too bad. Hopefully he has a full recovery and get back on track next season.

Damn, I was hoping he'd get an invite to the WJC. I would have thought he'd be on the short list especially with Parekh, Schaefer, and Brunicke all playing in the NHL and possibly not going.

Damn!

No way! Hit didn't look that bad, that is quite the name with no obvious history to it. Forgot about Jason Muzatti otherwise known as Billy Useless.

Oh that's not good. Hopefully he recovers fully but terrible news for the kid. He was and hopefully is still such an exiting prospect, but more than that, must be so devastating for him given all the hard work to get where he is. Fingers crossed everything goes smoothly for him!

If you don't make it in hockey, you can become a fireman/policeman pretty easily in your mid to late 20s. In fact, they don't really recruit people in their teens or early 20s to fill those roles.

Looks like a flying knee to knee...really dumb and unnecessary play.

Muzzatti has not been good for the Flames.

-Mews is out, knee injuries can be tough to overcome.

-Solovyov claimed off of waivers

-Poirier is not an NHL defenseman

-Morin has been healthy scratched for most of his AHL rookie season, and has had conditioning issues

-Parekh is struggling in the NHL. I’m sure he’ll be fine.

-Brzustewicz is looking good, but his skating hasn’t improved.

Clearly, we aren’t allowed to have nice things.

This sucks, Muzzatti was just finishing his check. Would need a closer video to call it dirty.

Hopefully this doesnt derail his development like it did Valimaki

I'd want to see a closer look, but it looks pretty reckless. Muzzatti comes in at a bad angle and then appears to jump up and lead with his knee.
