If Thomas goes on the block, there will be a lineup for his services. Kyrou and Schenn will get plenty of attention as well. We certainly don’t want the market flooded with quality forwards this season.

My only wonder with Frost is that if you do trade Kadri do his counting numbers go up as he gets to play a more prominent offensive role in that spot.

I doubt St Louis throws in the towel any time soon given how their last season played out. Trading Thomas would be a complete rebuilding move.

yeah it's a good point. If you trade both who is your #1 center. Yikes.

Yeah I'd say Kadri is priority.

Then you play Frost in a more prominent role and see what happens from there. Unless some team offers you an absolute godfather offer right now.

I thought Frost has been excellent. Wish he had Sharangovich's contract.

Farabee has improved, he might be tradable with retention. Sharangovich is not going anywhere. Although I think hes just a streaky guy, wouldn't be surprised if he scores 5 goals in a week or two.

Not sure what people are expecting from Frost. He’s a third line, 40-50pt playmaking center. I think he’s lived up to that.

That said, I don’t think that’s necessarily the ideal archetype for a middle-six center. Ideally, you’d want someone who can either generate more offense or play with a bit more edge.

Still, he’s a solid stopgap, especially if we end up moving Kadri.

I see him as a Backlund replacement.

As for Farabee, I see him as a good third-liner. Out of the logjam of wingers we’ve got, he’s one I’d definitely keep.

I see him as the Coleman replacement.

To me you could anchor the future third line around these two guys, and I think they're solid stopgaps in the meantime.

From the Flames perspective, Thomas would get a great add. I can't imagine we would be willing to give up the necessary assets though.

I assume the ask would for something crazy like 1st+Parehk as a base or like a 1st+ Gridin/Reschny + Zary

Frost would be ideal in a situation in which the top 2 centres are eating hard hard minutes and that he could be given the easy match-ups. This was often seen in the past but not many teams run like such any more. Examples of current teams could be Florida with Barkov and Lundell, Carolina with Aho and Stall/KK, or NJ when Hughes is on the wing with Hischier and Mercer slides to 2C.

In Calgary, Backlund's line eats the hardest minutes and then Huska often matches up with who is rolling. Putting Frost against the top match up isn't playing to his strengths, like Sharangovich, he is an opportunistic scorer. Opportunistic scorers tend to rely on mistakes, when you are playing against the other teams top lines, those mistakes are usually few and far between.

You have to shelter a player like Frost, he isn't like let's say Coronato or Huberdeau who can generate plays consistently on their own.

Between last year and this year the Blues are a royal pain in the ass

Brad really needs Ras as an insurance policy for Tanev.......

I would take their Unprotected 1st 2028 and 2nd 2027. We don't need mediocre bodies. If they want to send us Jarnkrok for cap purposes, we can flip him at the deadline.

Any chance of this happening (@insiders)?

I'll take Cowan plus 2027 unprotected 1st.

Toronto really has nothing we want do they?
Cowan is their best chip, and he's been as suspected "meh" to this point.
2027 unprotected is about the best we could get.

St. Louis should not be this bad on paper. I don't expect them to be near the league bottom by the end of the season, unless they decide to tear down.

They don't have a 1st until 2028. Even then, Matthews will be in his last year of his deal and most of their team will be on quality contracts. Unprotected in 2029 looks to be best bet to get value, but that is a long way out.

St Louis can rebuild and keep Thomas. If they are at the bottom still by the new year, trading players like Schenn and Binnington would be enough to make a run at 1st OV and still keep their best players.

If the Blues want to dump that Jordan Binnington contract, that's something we can manage I think!
