That was nice. If they organically end up with a high draft pick, so be it, but I will never cheer for a loss, or for the players to purposely tank it. Only losers like the Oilers do that.

Because we aren't going to go oh-for the rest of the long season so getting all mopey about a rare win in kinda pathetic to be honest. Wolf needed a good solid win, glad he got it

"Learn to lose so that in five years when you're not with the team anymore it will be good." Uh huh. That sounds workable.

They’ve played half decent in a number of the games they lost. It’s just the fact they are so inept at scoring and closing games that they are in the hole they are in.

There will be some Pokemon faces but the Flames are better than their record I think and we will start to see it climb.

Agreed. Against average .524 Pt% teams, which is the same Pt% average of their next 15 games. Including 12 of their next 15 games being against opponents with .500 W% or less. Probably gonna see a lot of OT.

I just don't want us to pick 10th to 15th again when we could instead pick top 3. But I understand that cheering to lose sucks too.

We're in 32nd place, last. We've played more games than every team up to 19th place Boston. We're bottom five in goals for and bottom six for goals against. The Sharks had 20 wins last season, lowest in the NHL by a good margin. We're on pace for that.

They looked pretty darn good. We have to cheer for the wins and not mope the losses. Wolf win is big, I’m still wary he’s not all that being so young but man he reminds me of Kipper. So solid and poised. The leagues history is littered with one and done goalies.
I don’t think Wolfie is one of them.
We aren’t gonna be great this year and it’s ok. But we will soon.

There's something so very Flames about Huberdeau finally finding his game when the team is falling apart around him. He worked so hard since coming here and he looks so good now. Hope he can keep it up.

This is the kind of game that culture is for. The team worked hard at all the little things, on the road where nobody was cheering for them, as a last-place team where even half of their own fans are hoping they lose. They could easily have folded, but didn't.
Charles Marshall said, ‘Integrity is doing the right thing when no one is looking.’ This team hasn't got the talent to win most nights, but they're starting to do the right things even when the whole game is no fun. That's being a pro. It's something all young players should learn, but some of them never do. Wins like this are a good sign for the future.

I'd personally rather get the higher pick than more wins. I don't really think this game means anything about the leadership, every team tries to win games lol.
One thing you can't teach is raw talent and elite potential like what McKenna has.

Every team tries, but not every team knows how. The Oilers were bad for a whole decade because they never taught the kids to look after the details that aren't glamorous.

McKenna will also have to learn to be a pro. Raw talent alone doesn't make you elite – that's why they call it raw.

Gosh, that 16'/17' season really crippled the Colorado franchise. Their young players learned nothing but how to lose. They've been a failed franchise ever since.

Just to really fool you, I think it would be splendid if the Flames made the playoffs (and no, I don’t think that will happen…but it would be fun to see Team Tank lose their collective minds….).
|
Oh I'm sure you would find it splendid. Not because of the Flames being in the playoffs or successful or any of that... but because you get off on seeing unhappiness befall people you disagree with.
If they made a big playoff push only to end up just short of the playoffs, I wouldn't exactly call that splendid. Would you?

This is true of every junior player ever... what's your point?

Sure, he will need to learn how to be a pro. I just don't understand people who preach about how we have a good culture. Like what does that mean?
We have what three playoff series wins in the last 2 decades? How good can the culture really be. That is why I want elite players, I am tired of having a "good culture" and being "proud to not lose like the tanking teams". I want a winning team lol.

Reading all the people that want the Flames to lose, lose and lose some more to be last in the league by season ends, reminded me McDiver's draft year. Buffalo tank hard that season, they ended up last in the league. I bet their fans was excited that they are gonna draft McDiver, but they did not win the draft lottery. Edmonton effing Oilers won and drafted McDiver, Buffalo ended up drafting Eichel who they couldn't keep at the end.

You dont need to say it 100 times a day and in every game thread...maybe we could you know, talk about the game? At best the Flames will have a 75% chance of NOT getting McKenna anyway
