Yes, it is forbidden to take shots at Huska on here no matter how bad his coaching is. He is a nice guy and speaks very well, how dare someone criticize him!

You've been doing nothing but take shots at Huska since before he got the job. Has someone forbidden you to do that? Are the moderators deleting your posts? Have you been banned for it?
Get over yourself. You're not being persecuted here.

No, I get told to stop saying it by multiple posters though. It's ok to criticize the roster but not the coach. If you criticize the coach you will get piled on. Why do you have to be a dick with every post you make? You can't just leave it at what you have to say, you have to add some aggressive bs like get over yourself. Here's an idea, try being a better poster instead of picking fights with everyoneubyil then nobody is taking anything you say seriously.

No,they called you that because you defended a 40 year old sexually exploiting a 16 year old by saying it was legal. Maybe don't make that pust and think about what you are saying first.

Look Jay, I have made posts that have been piled on because maybe I didn't come across the way I meant. Just clarify what you meant or lay low and wait for it to blow over. I know you like to try and bait me and I don't care but I am trying to help you here, don't remind people of it or set the record straight that you don't condone the actions.

I think the organization has been dedicated to not icing a good team more or less since Conroy came in. They have traded most of their good players for assets that cannot help them now, have signed no good UFAs and left huge percentages of their cap space unused. They just managed to be a lot better than their roster really indicated they should be until this year.

100% agreed.
I would go so far as to call the team from 2 seasons ago a 'middling team'. Then they did traded these out:
Lindholm - #1 center
Tanev - Best defensive defencemen
Hanifin - #1 defencemen - or at worst, #2
Zadorov - #5 defencemen capable of playing up the lineup
Toffoli - top goal scoring winger
Mangiapane - good depth scorer who could play defence (I think Farabee mostly replaced him, so let's call this moot)
Markstrom - #1 goalie
Most of them went for futures, but the Flames got back a few pieces - Miromanov, Sharangovich and Bahl. Bahl has been great, Sharangovich has been up and down, and MIromanov is off the team.
I love Wolf, but the Flames are icing the league's least experienced tandem, and they are doing it behind a defence that has three top 4 defencemen (and about to be down to 2), with everyone else essentially being replacement level.
The top centers are over 35, and on any given night, those are the two best lines.
I am not sure how anyone can look at this roster and not see a roster that is essentially a full-blown rebuild down to the studs.

Well, I don’t know. I don’t recall reading about Conroy going to see Schafer, Misa, or Desyones live last year.
Could mean nothing could mean something. I think it’s the latter but maybe that’s wishful thinking.

Have to figure that Tre might hit the panic button if Tanev is out long term. Could that be the catalyst for an Andersson trade. Do we think Easton or Danforth are an acceptable return as a starting piece for Andersson?

I think you should keep criticizing the coach. It shouldn't surprise anyone that it happens, or when a team with this record is thinking about an early season firing.

Easton Cowan would be an excellent acquisition, but I don’t think much of Danford- he’s as vanilla as you can get.

I think that they are the equivalent of Kerins and Stromgren. They will probably see some NHL time or piece together a decent career, but the only piece that would move the needle was Minton.
Tre went all in last year. He will trade for Gustavsson from the wings, or Bean, and call it a day.

I dispassionately laid out the whole roster in the game day thread.
Where do you disagree.
I see 5 upper roster players and then a bunch of third liners and third pairing players.
The goalie is here so that's handled.
But they are four forwards short and two or three defensemen short of being a balanced competitive hockey team.
Where do you differ?

IMO it’s a mix of players forcing their hand based on their contract situation and Conroy prioritizing futures in return and as you say, not signing outside players to big contracts.
Kadri’s situation is a bit of a test of their philosophy. I’ve now heard Steinberg say multiple times that based on what he hears from the organization, they are reluctant to approach Kadri about a deal because of what he means to the team. I expect this will change.
At this point, the organization’s clear priority should be about timing a trade that maximizes the return to the Flames. Everything else is secondary.

I don't disagree with the defensive pairings. I think we have 2 too pairing D men and the rest are third line guys except Parekh who from what I have seen is being held back from using his strengths as a puck moving D man except for one game where they were behind so badly that he was given the green light to create.
If the Flames used a more East/West system I think Huberdeau returns to the norm for him which was an 80-100 point player. Other guys who I think are top 6 capable forwards under such a system are Kadri, Coronato, Frost, Zary, Sharangovich. Borderline top 6 or high end 3rd line players are Backlund, Coleman, Farabee, and Pospisil. Unknown ceiling is Klapka.
My point is people saying the roster is as bad as their offensive numbers indicate are wrong. They are on pace to score the least amount of goals in a modern NHL season. Can you honestly look at this group and say they are the worst forward group in modern history? I don't think they are even the worst forward group in the NHL this year let alone ever.

Anyways personal disputes can happen in your DMs.
I really hope we see a Kadri trade next week to really hit the tank hard. This season is lost. Andersson I would trade by American Thanksgiving

They are probably the worst group of forwards in the western conference and definitely can compete for worst group of forwards in the league.

Hehe, I'm glad you get it. I do have a hard time gauging execution vs. coaching. I did like the Flames better under Sutter than under Huska, but the players absolutely hated Sutter, and his system also resulted in a lot of shot volume, and low danger shots.
I would love it if the Flames could play a run and gun style and win 6-5 on a nightly basis, but I just don't see how they would accomplish that.
How can you get Huberdeau back to being a 100 point player? Is there a coach without a job that could do that, and would come to Calgary?

dis just bugs me for being one of Huska's fanboys/apologizers. I do the same for his irrational dislike, it's all good.

I’d like to see all these “don’t criticize Huska” posts (as opposed to the “I disagree with your criticism of Huska” ones).
Some people around here can’t take criticism and call it censorship.
