Tanev sustained a concussion earlier in the season and last night sustained another one and was taken off the ice on a stretcher. Feel bad for the guy, he was a warrior for the Flames. If anyone screams future NHL head coach, though, it is him.

One of my faves ever. Looked like a nothing bump. He’s earned a great retirement. Hang them up buds. Stay in hockey in another capacity.
My kid and his buddy spotted him walking his little dog in Marda Loop a few years ago and asked for a pic. My kid said he was amazing. Kid was on cloud nine he met this mythical TV beast with a little doggo.

That's terrible news. I really wanted him to win a cup before he retired. He was such a warrior for CGY. I really wish he recovers fully, so that his quality of life after hockey doesn't suffer.
As a side note, Tanev is a guy I would love to have around the Flames as a coach, because I absolutely love how he thinks the game defensively.
The scary thing is the hit didn't look bad, unless I missed him hitting his head on the ice or something?
All 65kg of Michkov produces a lot of force. Also agree the thread title is a tad hyperbolic, but a concussion in the game after coming back from a concussion is not a great sign.

Wishing nothing but the best for Tanev, guys an absolute warrior and a rare breed in todays NHL. One of those guys that every fanbase would love to have on their team.
Is this speculation that his career is over or are there credible reports out there?
Seems like speculation. I hope he can recover and return to playing and not rush things either. It's still early in the season and they're not pushing for a Cup right now. Take it easy now so you can play hard later.
