I think people shouldn't be that surprised perhaps, because outside of a few young guys that get healthy scratched every other game, this is actually a pretty old team, especially the main group.

I was worried there for a second.. but the Flames managed to hold on for the loss. Good on them!

No, not really.

They should be a bottom 10 team, maybe even bottom 5 based purely on talent. They should NOT be 32nd and on pace for less than 40 points on the year.

Even if they aren't one of the better rosters, they're playing so much worse than the sum of their parts, which is the part I find concerning. I don't care that they're losing, but they look truly awful in every way, don't seem to care at all, and don't seem to act like a team. That's what sucks.

Crazy to see them falling out of it so quickly. Even as someone who wants to see a rebuild i didn't expect them to have results this bad.

Hopefully it results in Naz and Rasmus getting moved and the team taking meaningful steps towards a new core

In years past when I don't watch a game I atleast periodically check the score and I don't even do that anymore.

This team isn't nearly as bad as the record indicates IMO, but this is a blessing in disguise if it results in Kadri, Coleman and Andersson being traded for futures and the also in the Flames getting a top 5 pick.

This could be the fastest a certain someone goes from “I want to be part of the rebuild” to “get me the ____ out of here”

I too sense the room is broken.

All the good vibes around the team that we saw last year are completely gone. It's a little disturbing to watch.
I never liked this org leaning into its culture, exactly for this reason. you attribute your success to culture and then inevitably you come back down to earth and suddenly it starts getting questioned again.

Winning creates culture. there's no need to hyper focus on culture. most NHLers are pretty good team players. its a rare, league wide story when there is a locker room problem. You can name on one hand the problem guys in the league. Kane, Tony De Angelo, maybe JT Miller?

San Jose - Colorado going to OT. Flames get some breathing room.

Let’s see

In goal, their sophomore goalie is talent but struggling

On defense: they have 2 guys that have any kind of talent but both play like ####

Up front: based on past performance they have 2 top 6 forwards, one is kinda struggling, the other has given up since he got here

You are right

I said it in the game thread, but I've never seen a fan base enjoy games during a tank. It's always a slog. Hope they get something good out of it at the end.

I bet it's shock going through the room right now. The team last year believed in themselves and it would be hard to adjust to reality this year.

When the last sell-off occurs I hope they get another guy who can chuck em. If they start playing younger guys it would be good to have someone help Lomberg keep opposing players away from the next wave. Gives fans something to cheer about if the team can't score too.
