Coaching staff facilitated turning Coronato into a 30 goal scorer and Wolf into a Calder candidate, and somehow made Honzek a playable player even though he was pretty meh since he was drafted. Everyone pissed and moaned how they dealt with those guys early last year too.

They actually DO know what they are doing and how to develop. You just don't like the process because you are impatient and/or extremely short sighted.

That’s why I would keep him until the juniors then have him go play there including to get some confidence. Then make the call

Solid power kill
More time in defensive zone on the PP

Just giving them spots on the roster is not how you develop kids and push them to be better.
Pretty much the entirety of the rest of the league would disagree with the Flames and you.

Put kids on the roster, and coach to their strengths while working on their weaknesses.

I mean, there’s no defending what the Flames are doing so far this season. They’re not a young team, and they’re the worst team in the league.

Whatever you want to call this, it’s not a proper committed rebuild.
Of course it is.

They’re trading all these veterans. They have to. They can’t even get these games to OT.

They couldn’t score with a handful of fifties in a whorehouse, and they’re in that whorehouse with no money at all.

I’m sorry. He just shouldn’t be an NHL captain.

At his peak he was a good 2nd line defensive center with pop. But only in the regular season (not his fault?).

He’s never dragging anyone into a fight. Just not the cut of his jib.

Ok player. Bad captain.

On the down side neither Monahan nor Gaudreau managed to figure out the defensive side of the game for a long while after.
He also shattered he confidence of other young players

Flames are quite a bit better than their record in my view.

Which in a rebuild is not a bad thing.

May as well just forfeit the games.

Are we shocked the players and staff are trying to win

There are still 70 games left in the season, the kids will get in. Not a committed rebuild? It is nov 1st. The results speak for themselves.

Coronato looks like a shell of himself. Not at all assertive.

The sophomore slump is a real thing.

This is what confuses me about a lot of the complaints. I'm sure it's a case of a vocal minority, but I honestly thought this was the one Canadian fan base that could handle a rebuild without constant temper tantrums.

We'll see how the season develops, but it's possible that Kadri, Andersson, and Coleman are all moved this season. In recent history we've seen Mangiapane, Markstrom, Hanifin, Tanev, Lindholm, Zadorov, and Toffol all moved out with draft picks and young players looking for a new situation as the predominant returns.

I'd love to see Parekh (and Zary+Coronato to lesser degrees) get used differently, but I also think there's value in not just giving the young players free-reign without establishing key values, principles, and standards of professionalism. We laughed at the Oilers for years and years for being bad and fostering a losing culture.

This is a rebuild, the team overachieved in spite of it last year but this season so far is going as most would have / should have expected. There will be a LOT of growing pains going forward, I just wish they were more entertaining to this point.

Yes, I forgot he completely ruined Baertschi's confidence. I can't remember if Granlund was another.

Based on what?

All good organizations develop their kids patiently. Only the Edmontons and Buffalos give them the keys and throw.them to the wolves
