This doesn't sound good. I hope Parekh stays in the NHL. Maybe if the Flames use his spot for Brzustewicz it would be an easier pill to swallow.

Parekh's 1 game last year doesn't count towards the 10?

No, it's on a per year basis. Last year slid because he played less than 10 professional games. This year will slide as well as long as he plays less than 10 games.

If they don't play the kids I don't watch. Simple as that.

Figure it out, 32nd place team. Its getting ridiculous how they are still undecided and unable to pick a lane.

Parekh is too good for more CHL time and cant go to the AHL. Just give the kid a longer leash. Like how much Huska gives the backlunds and weegars of the team who've been worse liabilities...

He needs the leeway to learn.

Parekh’s clearly the problem.
Holy moly did they ever f this up.

He needs a steady proper partner and the freedom to play his game the way he was drafted to play.

Should be with Weegar but Huska doesn’t want him taking away offence from Weegar (lol)
Could be with Bahl and they looked good for the one game but nope, he’s gotta be with the guy we’re getting rid of and nobody else.
Rotated with bottom 2 defenceman constantly, getting minimal ice time and mostly PP2 time. When switched to PP1 they looked way better.

There’s 0 development left for him in junior… he needs to learn the game against men in the real league now. They just haven’t set him up for success thus far, the press box isn’t the place that’s for sure.

Sad honestly, feel bad for the kid.

This. But if it means Miromanov comes back up, we riot!

Couldn't Parekh be sent to CHL team similar to Draisaitl? It didn't hurt development in that case.

If huska's too chicken #### to play him, send him back to juniors ASAP.

Wasting away in the press box while they contemplate isnt doing anything for him.

But also be prepared for interest to tank, if it hasn't already.

The only legitimate reason I could think of to send Parekh back to junior is to get him away from a losing culture. If the team wants to tank, and expects to lose, that’s not a great environment for a young player to develop in. It would be tough mentally as the culture in the room is sure to suffer as a result.

Keeping him away from that and letting him dominate elsewhere until they navigate through these painful but necessary steps of a rebuild could be beneficial.

Bringing him back in a year older and more physically developed, alongside whatever top young players they can get their hands on, could be a good play for him. And he can go play in the World Juniors and hopefully win a gold there.

Ridiculous.. Parekh’s not ready except they haven’t given him much of a chance and his underlying metrics are still better than the other D. At least this is helping me stop caring about the flames.

It's not going to help him on a team that is in a deep tank. If anything see if you can send him to Europe. If nothing there, back to Junior and win.

It may not be Huska's decision on whether Parekh is playing or not. I would expect that there is some input going on from Conroy and the rest of the management team as they try to figure out what would be best for Parekh's development. Maybe they are working on finding him a spot in Europe (NOT KHL obviously!), or negotiating with the AHL for an exemption of some sort (doubtful) or simply having the development staff and management discussing what's best here.

I think he probably stays and plays 50% of the time on the third pairing (and ramps up as he progresses, stays at 50% if he isn't improving, which would be tough).

Or maybe it is just Huska today, and he just doesn't like the match-up on some of these away games, with not being able to shelter Parekh sufficiently. Either way, I do believe that Parekh's development is what is being considered.

He’s good enough to play, but they are probably concerned about the hits he’s taking.

If you watch the Chase, you can see physically he is pretty far behind Gridin, even though they are the same age.

Flames should be lobbying for some type of exemption. If Jack Beck can play in the NCAA after playing pro, or if Shane Wright can play in the AHL as a 19 year old, there is precedence for an exemption.

Exactly why era after era, so many stars succeed elsewhere... once they leave Calgary. They cant seem to learn how to develop properly.

Most top picks end up playing on bad or tanking teams. I don’t find this argument compelling at all. A bunch in the cup finals last year.

It’s the coach and veteran’s job to insulate him from the negativity and grow him as a player.
