It's impressive that they've been doing something different now for two solid years and you haven't noticed it yet.

Oh yeah it was super different to not sell anyone at the deadline, finish outside the playoffs, and draft 17 last year. Youre right i forgot.

Which players did they lose last year as a result of not selling? Were there a lot of guys who were walked last offseason that could have been sold but for Conroy’s lack of action. Maybe move Mantha, is that the one you wish they would have traded?

Andersson was the only notable one. That's the only one anyone could really note as a "they should have".

And? They're probably right, but it is what it is. He'll get traded probably 9 months after when people would've ideally liked to have seen him dealt...and Conroy thought it was worth keeping that crew together for culture reasons. Decision was made, no reason to worry about it now.

But who are the players? Is it Mantha?

Few more nuggies from nhltraderumors:

-Preds are looking for linemates for Stamkos, who has gotten off to another poor start. He's been moved back to C after a stint on the wing, and they are looking for wingers who can carry through the neutral zone, win pucks, and feed him in the right spots.

-The Kraken have two first-round picks in each of the next two drafts, and seven picks in the first two rounds over the next two years combined, and they may be looking to upgrade their roster. They have been playing fairly well, and Daccord is a good anchor to their lineup, but they have several UFA's this upcoming summer- including Eberle, Marchment, Schwartz, and Oleksiak.

-James Nichols of New Jersey Hockey Now has a wishlist for players he wants the Devils to acquire to bolster their lineup- Alex Tuch, Alex Wennberg, Pavel Zacha, and the Flames' Blake Coleman. They may also look to upgrade their 3C position. They are off to an 8-2 start, and don't need help right now in their top-six.

At the risk of sounding repetitive, please trade Kadri, Coleman and Andersson as soon as you get a decent offer CC.

I’d love to take one of Seattles firsts. Even maybe one of their prospects. Just need them to think they need one of our players

I'm totally sure he's never thought of that.

Yeah, it's totally Conroy's fault that the team went on an improbable winning tear AFTER the trade deadline and missed the playoffs on a tiebreaker. You saw that coming, of course, didn't you?

Devils could use winger depth on their 3rd line - a return for Coleman who was really liked in that organization and fan base makes a ton of sense IMO

Really hoping Pittsburgh stays hot and is a playoff team. Would rather they try for a last dance scenario than make Crosby and Malkin available. The market is always hot for centers but if those two were available in trade, it would likely hold up trades of all other centers as teams would try to get one of them first before going somewhere else.

Have to be cautious about waiting too long for the best offer - the market could flood with center options. Imagine if Crosby, Malkin, Horvat, Barzal (healthy scratched tonight for being late to practice), Zibanejad (salary retained), Zacha, Schenn, and O’Reilly were all on the trade market by January. Not saying they will all be (highly unlikely) but all those teams except for the Penguins are starting off poorly this season and all of them could look to sell/rebuild.

I would still be shocked if the Flames traded Kadri. It just isn't a typical Flames thing to do, to trade a player unless you are forced to.

All of the players we traded were pending UFA's. We would actually have to be proactive rather than reactive for a change

I do see us trading Rasmus soon. But Kadri, I have my doubts.

Exactly why this Kadri deal is an early season move. We are currently the only sellers.

If someone makes an ok offer now, trade em. Kadri, Rasmus, Coleman.

I like them but it doesnt make sense to keep them. I too will not be surprised when the market starts becoming flooded with sellers and we will be left holding bags again. We have never sold at a high market. Lets not kid ourselves, we lucked out that Gridin has looked this promising and Bru looks solid. However, remember that this huge return was being applauded because of the "5 pieces" we got. Those 5 pieces were really 2, but could've turned out bad. Thank God we took Gridin. Most didn't even know who he was when we took him. Credit to the scouts.

You know what Stamkos needs? One Huberdeau.

That’s the one I think the Flames missed out on. He went cheap

They sure held onto Markstrom until he walked to UFA
