He knows how the oilers function so it was a strategic hire but i wont be surprised if the stars are worse.

He was so bad here. I doubt he learned a whole lot up in the McShow.

He wasn't bad here, the team was. Let's see how the Stars do.

He has a solid knowledge of the game and tactics but he hasn't shown that he can be the head coach of a playoff team. I question if he can do wonders with any group based on his history. Maybe he learned from his past mistakes and has made adjustments... wasn't the lack of adjustments also the knock on him?

Anyway, I think he may have been the best assistant coach Edmonton had over the past 10-20 years. Maybe ever. Is he a good head coach? Hopefully for Dallas' sake he is.

Dark day for CP when people be defending Glue Gun. I hate that guy’s style. It was a soggy moldy wet blanket on my enjoyment of hockey.

Does Nill want that style with his roster? I guess we’ll soon find out if GG has anything else in his toolbox. I hope CC can get some pick from Dallas before GG detonates their season.

Unsure how people think Huska has accomplished more as a coach than Gulutzan. I mean, I don't really like either, but a Gulutzan made the playoffs his first year with the Flames and had Brian Elliot in net...I'd say that's as good as what Huska did last year.

Well that roster had Johnny Gaudreau, Sean Monahan, Dougie Hamilton, Matthe Tkachuk, Mark Giordano, TJ Brodie and others. Much better team than today.
And Elliott was good in the regular season.
He melted down in the playoffs.

(I also don't think Gulutzan was nearly as bad as some think he was).

It’s sad, much like lamenting over losing tweeter players to waivers, we are reduced to whataboutism regarding Gulutzan versus Huska.

We deserve a higher quality of disappointment!

Some people think he was a demonic baby eater, I agree that he was not that bad.

He was a very ####ty Flames head coach though.

Are there actually fans defending Gulutzan? He's the guy that's responsible for neutering Bennett and essentially wasting prime years of Gaudreau and Monahan. Possibly the most damaging Flames head coach hire since Brad Gilbert. The Stars have a lot of talent so they will make the playoffs in spite of him but I would be surprised if he lasts more than two full seasons.

No. First, his handling of young players has been fine. Second, there is more than enough change and chaos with the organization as is, they don't need to be looking for more things to change.

I think Huska and the Flames in general have done a decent job developing their young players.

Coronato, Pospisil, Zary, Wolf, Honzek, Parekh have all graduated to the team recently and their are a number like Gridin, Kuznetsov, Brzustewicz on the horizon.

The Flames problem is more centered around their vets.

He had an entitled group of players that needed a swift kick in the ass and he just isn't that type of coach. I still think Gully is a damn good coach if you have a good offense they can play his east/west system.

Huska is possibly the worst coach in Flames history. Yes, Gilbert cost us Savard but even he wasn't this bad at roster management or deploying a system that doesn't fit the roster at all. I do worry about how much stifling of development our young players will have under him, that's for sure. I wonder if Coronato is suddenly regretting that long extension and if he keeps handling him the way he has I can see him asking for a trade. The only positive to Huska as coach is he is the perfect tank commander for the next couple of years. I definitely have concern though about player development under him
