Probably was the best potential RFA next summer. I heard Armstrong on the FAN the other day talking about how they had him #1 in 2022 and how excited they were to get him. Not surprised they locked him up.

Maybe it's due to getting out of the stink that followed them in Arizona but there's a lot to like about the current trajectory of the Mammoth.

Utah is definitely looking like an emerging team now.

That should tell the players on that team that this ownership group is pretty committed to putting a winning team on the ice. Good foundation piece for the Mammoth to have locked down.

I’m ready to forgive them for the Iginla pick just for not sticking with Utah Hockey Club. I’m so happy that’s done. Name and logo are sweet.

Yeah, for each of the last two years, I have been waiting for / expecting the wooly coyotes to take a step and emerge as a team. Looks like they are finally going to do so.

Anaheim will be interesting. One could expect both Gauthier and Carlsson to get similar contracts (same age, similar point production). They have $40MM in space next year, but those two could conceivably eat about half of that. And they will have 8 more players to sign including 5 of their current roster defense.

For those who have followed the Coyotes and their ownership troubles and migration north to Utah, it is refreshing to see and owner who is committed to making the NHL successful in their market. From making the players feel welcome, to the arena upgrades to make it NHL ready over the course of a timeline, to putting money and committing to salaries to keep continuity in their players.

Like others have said, Utah is going to a good to great team over the course of the next few years. Kudos to Ryan Smith and Smith Entertainment Group. Looks like they are also positioning themselves to possibly be in the mix for MLB in a couple of years when they address expansion.
