And that can be his preference too, but in the end he has to go to the high bidder.
Hopefully that is Montreal, as they probably have the best combination of prospects and picks available anyways, and also happen to be one of his preferred destinations.

The only obstacle there is that as far as we know, Montreal doesn't want him.

He's definitely not declared only 2 teams, both of which are big Canadian markets... lol.
Eastern Canadian propaganda is so strong sometimes.

As Scorp notes though, big whoop even if he does have a preference. He has a 13 team NTC, fair game everywhere else.
|
Fair, he definitely has no preference outside of his 13 team don't send me to Antarctica list.

He's really just saying he likes Canada except rivals like Edmonton and Vancouver and boring ass Winnipeg and Ottawa.

It doesn't matter where he wants to go, he should go to the highest bidder. Have to think about our team first.

Would be incredible to get a player like that in a Kadri trade but that’s their top prospect. Think the best return you could hope for is their 3rd or 4th best prospect.

Kadri is unlikely, but Coleman would likely be a fit in Detroit.

Perhaps, but he would fetch less in return. Maybe there's a scenario where they would like to bolster their young D group with a bit more veteran leadership for the playoffs, and they make a play for Andersson?

Coleman and Ras retained.
Leaves lots of room to add Stamkos.

I simply read it as "Not the US".
And that makes sense, many of us have speculated he would rather not go to a US team.

Isles got the Avs best prospect and a first for Nelson. I'd be pretty pissed at Conroy if he settled for a 3rd or 4th best prospect for a player of Kadri's calibre when a ton of teams are looking for top 6 centers.

Ritchie and a 1st for Kadri would’ve been amazing

I always think "oh, no one would pay that..."
...and then I remember that Brock Nelson trade.
Ditto on the Andersson front. I think of the return for Hanifin (not bad, I like the 1st)...and then I remember what Boston paid for Hamphus Lindholm and I can't help but think we may end up closer to that.
If Conroy does go this route (and stacking some losses this week I'd have to think would be a big step in that direction), the mind definitely runs a bit wild with the home run potential. Especially if Conroy is the first one to hit the market before other teams begin to realize they're out of it and tie up the market.

I am kind of giddy thinking that if the Flames move out Coleman, Kadri, and Andersson they could potentially have 4 or 5 1st round picks this year.

OK, but they have to draft properly. Remember when Boston had 3 in a row in 2015, and took Zboril, Debrusk and Senyshyn right before Barzal, Conner, Chabot, Eriksson Ek, Boeser and Konecny?
And they still need to be decent picks. That same year Boston didn't quite finish low enough to get McDavid, Eichel, Strome, Marner, Hanifin, Zacha, Provorov, Werenski, Meier, Rantanen.
Quite a stunning miss actually.

I think the most interesting thing about this discussion is how public it's become over night.
That says player is involved and potentially the agent too ... that's usually what gets things on the Eastern media play list.
So to me I think it looks quite likely he's moved, and the "does he want to stay?" honorable thing could be a thing of the past.
When it first came up I just thought there would be "he wants to stay" pushback, but that doesn't seem to be the case. And he's a big chip ... that likely gets Coleman wondering and probably other teams ratcheting up the calls for Andersson.
Don't usually see October / November trades though.
