Members of the Canadian military have preferential priority for things like surgical wait times. It's logical, you can't have CF-18 pilots and elite military snipers off duty while the Canadian healthcare system waits 2+ years for some surgical procedures.

Do you think MP's, MLA's, Governor General, military brass all have the same wait time as regular Joe ? Of course not, it's not because they are connected it's because they are priority.

The same system applies to professional athletes in Canada. They aren't flown to the US for treatment or put into the triage system. They are treated and given surgery by publicly paid Dr's, in public hospitals using public resources. What happens when a Calgary Flame needs ACL surgery? It's an operating room and resources in a local hospital that takes away operating time for locals. Occasionally it may be at a local private owned surgical center that are popping up in AB and being funded by AHS but that is a different conversation. It's not being done in the hallway off the Dome.

When I said we do a decent job of rationing care in Canada, it's the truth. We pretend that we don't but for budgetary reasons we have to. That is why the wait times are what they are. You properly fund treatment times and have them occur an massively increased rates, you get the wait time down
So you’re again just kind of making it up?

I’m guessing that you can’t recall a premier as she wasn’t elected by voters, but you could recall her as an MLA? Is this correct?

Yes but she ran in a pretty safe UCP riding so I think it would be hard to succeed.

Ya, there are two ways to remove her as "premier".

1) Join the UCP and vote against her in the next leadership review. They work hard to make that difficult as they only want people to vote in person in their AGM in Red Deer. However, even if she were removed as leader, she would still be an MLA.

2) Recall her in her riding, which is a pretty safe conservative riding. She technically could stay on as leader of the party during the recall process and even stay leader if she is removed as an MLA. Similar to how Nenshi was leader of the NDP while not having a seat.

Not easy, but another route would be to recall enough UCP MLAs that they lose their majority.

You are never gonna guess who posted about needing the ability to recall politicians, no matter why. He seems like a big fan of it actually.

Listening to the Assembly today, it is absolutely electric. Highly recommend if you're bored and get enjoyment from being angry.

Ditto listening to the Education Minister further realizing how much of a smarmy prick he is.

I do wish in all Governments especially the ruling parties, that they'd do away with the self-flagellating questions.

"How did you let this get so bad"
"Well, it all started cause the NDP were in power those 4 years out of the past 700, obviously"

I couldn't get through saying something like that without laughing, remarkable how the UCP actually believes that.

What's this 8.6billion commitment all about? Are there actually schools being built, or is it simply a budget line item without actual substantive action behind it?

I wasn't in the mood to watch WWE Raw is War. It seems the Assembly is only about trying to come up with better insults to slam the opposition than it is about getting business done. No wonder I try to avoid politics at all costs. It is immature childishness from grown adults. Nothing they said was productive or helped their cause. They are all idiots.

Well, given that the province gov is now hammering through back to school legislation with hour long question periods before the next reading, instead of at least a day like normal, I'd say they are getting things done. Now whether it's the right thing to get done, that's up for debate.
