Ukraine just changed naval warfare again. New drone carriers are launching unjammable fiber-optic FPVs — drones that fly without radio signals and can’t be jammed by Russian EW. https://twitter.com/user/status/1975324081521352858
Ukraine appears to be attacking the town of Staryi Oskil in the Bilhorod region. I was wondering why we didn't do it before. This is a key iron ore processing and extraction site in russia, accounting for 50% of russian iron production, or roughly 40 million tons. https://twitter.com/user/status/1975417556778545554

The name and face of every Russian officer in the chain of command responsible for any war crimes should be published so that they must look over their shoulder and under their car for the rest of their lives. GUR will hunt them down. https://twitter.com/user/status/1978024749918822773
Retired American general Jack Keane who served as Vice Chief of Staff of the United States Army stated that if Tomahawks are transferred to Ukraine, their first target would be the drone production center in Yelabuga, Russia, allegedly staffed by 20,000 North Korean workers.
Despite a lot of western doom.and gloom, the Russian summer offensive has mostly been a failure.
Russia threw 100 000 men at Pokrovsk this summer, and they're still fighting over it. (Despite CNN reporting on imminent defensive collapse in July.) They've been trying to capture it since mid-July 2024. We're talking about a city with a pre-war population of 60k and an an area of 30 sq km (or 11 sq miles). And Ukraine has been counter-attacking recently, taking back already captured positions.
Whether Pokrovsk falls or not is not really the point, but it's really more an indicator that it's really hard to move the frontline when your bigger vehicles keep getting destroyed and you're stuck advancing with motorbikes and infantry.
Yes Russia has gained ground again, but not really anything strategically significant, ans nothing that's in scale with the massive amounts of troops used.

Warfronts summary and commentary on the failed Russian offensive.
Staggering amounts of lives lost without even reaching their minimum strategic goals for the campaign. Obvious lack of heavy metal means even if Russia breaks the frontline somewhere, they struggle to take advantage with meaningful advancement. In essence, the Soviet stockpiles have run out and the result has been as predicted.
The current stalemate also demonstrates that you can't take significant ground with just drones, men on foot and light vehicles, at least not against a peer opponent. Tanks and armored vehicles still matter. (On that note: Russians are still sometimes using turtle tanks. Seems they are effective enough for the current war.)
That's not to say Ukraine is having an easy time, but a full Ukrainian loss is looking like it's off the table. There are also signs that Russians keeping up with what's going on in the war are mostly coming to the same conclusion. What that means we don't know yet.
Thus, the likely outcomes currently are either a full or partial Russian retreat due to support at home collapsing (which would likely be due to increased economic hardship), or the current frontlines being more or less accepted as the endstate. Neither side is currently able to significantly move those lines through force.
Which is why we've seen Ukraine increasingly commit to a strategy of maximizing economic hardship for Russia, their main path to victory.
