Feels like they're probably going to alternate between scratching everybody at this point.
I'd also say it's probably punitive based on his stick penalties last game.

Can't scratch Lomberg, have to make sure we scratch Coronato first

Not like the team needs goals or anything

At this stage I think it's a good thing to see our best/2nd best goal scoring ability scratched.

I hope the Rangers play Shesterkin today.

It's such a Flames thing to do. Get a center because we don't have much depth in the position. Proceed by playing said center on the wing.

It certainly can't hurt, but if you're going to try anyone on the Kadri line it should be Zary. If you like Zary at C then you should play Sharangovich there. If you like Sharangovich on the Zary line, then call up Gridin for a game.

I don't mind the Coronato scratch for a game. He hasn't been bad, but he needs to get back to what made him successful last year.

PS: Thanks Cheese. Your GDTs are always awesome.

Lomberg isn’t playing well either but at the end of the day they’ve both been on ice for two even strength goals while one of them has seen one goal against and the other has seen 11.

This season is a lost cause anyways (well, unless they do get a very high draft pick). Trying new lines and combos isn't a terrible thing. And scratching players isn't always a means of punishment.......in fact it can be very helpful. Hopefully Coronato resets a bit and comes back playing the way he can.

Can't imagine getting bent out of shape when a guy spends a game or two in the press box.

Maybe Coronato hasn't played good lately, but it is crazy to scratch one of the only guys that can score lol.

Coronato is a massive part of this teams future so if they don’t like the effort or see something that points to him being scratched that makes sense to me. Coronato will be a vet when this team is hoping to contend.

The coach has to manage each of the players individually, as well as managing the lineup, and the team as a whole.

Coronato has not been good this year, and was really bad last game. If the coach thinks it will help him to spend a night in the press box, then so be it - it is more important to get Coronato where he needs to be, than it is to have him in the lineup for this one, (mostly meaningless) game.

And it has absolutely nothing to do with Lomberg.

He has 2 goals and 3 points in 9 games. Most of that output came in a single game.

If he can score he should do it more.

They scratched Sharangovich for similar reasons, and he also is one of the only guys who can finish on this team.

I keep saying it, but I believe Canadian fans are way too impatient for a rebuild.

It's actually a GOOD thing if the Flames lose, and at best, their record this year is mostly meaningless. What matters is player development. And that means young guys should be in the AHL. And it means guys should sit in the press box when they're not playing well. That is EXACTLY what a good coach should be doing, with a young rebuilding team. It's literally what you all want.

But the moment he actually does it, everyone whines like a bunch of spoiled children.

I don’t mind the head coach sending messages to players. Coronato had a nice season last year but he can’t rest on that. If the coaching staff thinks he needs to pull up his socks then I’m fine with the benching.
