Reinbacher much like Dach is too injury prone sadly.
Guys barely played hockey in 3 years now, not a good sign.
2023/24 - Major knee injury (Right knee) missed months in SWISS league
2024/25 - Major knee injury (left knee) out for season
2025/26 - Hand injury - behind schedule - 4 weeks and counting

Actually listening to Loubardias at the time, he kept mentioning how high the Flames were on both Sillinger and Coronato. As luck would have it, Sillinger went 12th, and we ended up with Coronato at 13th.
I still think Sillinger has a lot of potential, and he's only 22. He's also another player that could benefit from playing C full-time. And he won't cost an arm and a leg because he has yet to live up to the expectations.

Are we trading Kadri?
That would be a sign of imminent planned tank
Edit: he’d be the best asset available to any team, he’d get a straight haul but from a contender so not a high 1st rounder

Also agree that this draft could be a real game changer. Lets say both get traded just on initial likes you could walk out of the drafts first round with the likes of Lawrence if we pick top five. Then with 3 20’s picks.
Lawrence, reid, hextall, bjork would be a hell of a first round. Just based on some early projections for the first round.

If teams are worried about this year's draft, nothing wrong with taking 2027 picks. Particularly if they are deliciously unprotected. Yum.

I think even on here people were upset that Sillinger went right before, including because the Flames won a game near the end of the season to move up in the standings a touch? I might be mis-remembering.
here's the poll!
https://forum.calgarypuck.com/showth...ht=Flames+pick
Sillinger pretty strong #1 with 42% of the vote.
Somehow we also thought McTavish might be there for us. Oops. He got 21% of the votes.
Bison with only 3.5% of the vote.

That's fair. And maybe he's worth a crack to see. But we're already giving spots to a few of those guys. Need to shed at least one before we bring in another young player who needs a change of scenery.

Edmonton or Toronto), teams that don’t have the assets to trade for you (eg. Toronto or Florida) and teams that are likely not in the market to acquire you (eg. San Jose). And worst case, leave teams off the list that you would be ok being traded to (Colorado maybe?).
Imagine a no-trade list of the following:
New Jersey
Utah
Montreal
Winnipeg
Detroit
Seattle
Nashville
LA
St. Louis
Minnesota
Ottawa
Buffalo
|
Why do you think he'd have Montreal on his no-trade list? It does have the largest Lebanese community in Canada, as a bonus.

The list I came up with was under the assumption that he would try to avoid being traded at all. Montreal would be a team that likely wants him and can afford to acquire him and the flames would want to trade with - all of those qualities make Montreal a team that increases the likelihood of him being traded. So I included them in the NTC list. You’re correct that he might want to go there so I could see them not being on the list in reality. They would be a prime trade partner as they have a strong need for a center and would have the assets to trade for him.

Kadri+ for Hage has to be the move on Montreal. They would be absolutely dirty with Kadri propping up mid lineup. They frankly dont need Hage coming up in 2-3 years. Yes hes great and will be hard but that's one I would stick on.
There will be other Kadri suitors.

I think Hage will be tough to get.
And yes there will be other suitors, but again, we have to keep in mind the modified NTC and how Kadri and his agent can play that. They can put a lot of restrictions in place. All the more reason, that the Flames should try to work with Kadri on this, similar to how Tkachuk did with his trade.
I would target Zharovsky who I think his massive upside, and is having a great D+1 season so far. I bet Montreal would be putting guys like Owen Beck and Josh Roy on the table.

Yup. Hage feels impossible but I wanted Zharovsky with the Potter pick - super skilled - and might be gettable for a guy like Naz imo. Make it so.

well then they aren't going to get him and lose in the first round to a bigger team. Somebody will "overpay"

Certainly the hope.

If Weegar actually was made available, that’d surprise me…but also, if it’s this bleak here in the short term I would understand it if he didn’t want to stay.

I’m still a fan of Sillinger- he’s the type that will pop when he gets out of there.
Perfect target IMO.

Imagine a no-trade list of the following:
New Jersey

So if Kadri’s camp kept the following OFF the NTC list:
Edmonton (flames won’t trade with them)
Toronto (flames won’t trade with them and can’t afford Kadri)
San Jose (not likely wanting to trade for Kadri)
Chicago (not likely wanting to trade for Kadri)
Philadelphia (not likely wanting to trade for Kadri)
Florida (can’t afford Kadri)
Anaheim (not likely wanting to trade for Kadri)
Pittsburgh (not likely wanting to trade for Kadri)
Vegas (likely can’t afford Kadri)
Colorado
Dallas
Long Island (not likely wanting to trade for Kadri)
Columbus (not likely wanting to trade for Kadri)
Boston (not likely wanting to trade for Kadri)
Tampa Bay (not likely wanting to trade for Kadri)
New York (not likely wanting to trade for Kadri)
Carolina
Washington (not likely wanting to trade for Kadri)
In my opinion, that would leave Carolina, Dallas and Colorado as potential options for the flames. Carolina being the best fit I think. They have the assets from the Rantanen trade and could use what he brings to the playoffs. Plus they have plenty of cap space.
Really hoping Pittsburgh surprises and does well this year. Keeping Malkin and Crosby off the trade market helps Kadri’s value.
|
I did this exercise over the summer and I think there are a few teams that he would swap (thinking back to July 1).
Looking at your list with blocking all trades in mind: - New Jersey - With Hughes, Hischier, Mercer as their C depth and very little cap space, I doubt the Devils go onto the list. Probably replace them with Carolina.
- Utah - With Cooley and Hayton in place and Iginla and Beaudoin in the wings I doubt they want to add Kadri
- Montreal - Definitely want a #2C
- Winnipeg - Could be a risk depending on Toews
- Detroit - Doubt they would want Kadri with Kasper emerging and Danielson in the wings
- Seattle - Definitely do not think they would want to add Kadri with Beniers, Stephenson, Wright
- Nashville - Shouldn't be adding more vets but could go crazy?
- LA - Could be a risk
- St. Louis - Unlikely to add a C but maybe Kadri pushes Schenn down to #3?
- Minnesota - Could make moves to try to shore up #2C if they do not think Rossi can do it
- Ottawa - Just acquired Cozens, doubt they add another C
- Buffalo - Always add Sabres
Kadri could probably play with that list a bit more to eliminate any realistic trade partners and ensure that he only gets moved with his permission.

I would also be happy with a 2027 1st as the Blues are a team that could take a sudden and surprising step back.
|
The Blues are interesting but I do not love their C prospects and I wouldn't want to be trading for more wingers or RD. That shrinks the list a bunch for a potential Andersson trade.... but hopefully keeps the price up on other interested teams.
