Ironically, Doug Ford is being bashed relentlessly on reddit for stirring the pot and spending on this ad. Meanwhile Trump and MAGA are incensed that...err heavy left wing nut Ronald Reagan's words were used. Some even going so far as attributing the ad to AI when it was a speech in 1987.

It's like some people are so partisan and politized they completely forget what they actually care about.

Frankly, I think Doug Ford running this ad in the US is pure genius. Ontario is largest hit by the Stellantis and GM actions, they are hardest hit by US tariffs. It's an ad to evoke reaction, and it's working.

Just because we have a zealous dictator down south hell bent on destroying the US and Canada economically raging at anything, doesn't mean we need to stay quiet.

Frick, if Blue Jays win the World Series and he probably goes in the same rage telling trade talks are off. He's unstable.

Would be a wonderous day!

Ah, there it is. So it's not about the Ontario ad at all, or any other bulls*** excuse that Trump comes up with. As usual, they're just super annoyed that Canada is being tough in negotiations and still won't budge on supply management, dairy, etc...

Also, Canada being called un-serious by the most ridiculous clown show administration in American history is certainly a take.

https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/lives...-off-9.6951609

Quote:
After asking the White House what Canada could do to get talks back on track, my colleague Katie Simpson just received a statement from White House spokesperson Kush Desai, who says there has been no “constructive progress” in trade talks with Canada.

“The Trump administration has repeatedly sought to address Canada’s long-standing, unfair trade barriers,” said Desai in the statement.

Ontario’s ad campaign, which he calls a misleadingly edited version of Ronald Reagan’s radio address, “is the latest example of how Canadian officials would rather play games than engage with the administration,” the statement reads.

“As President Trump made clear on Truth Social, further talks are a futile effort if Canada can’t be serious,” Desai concludes.

Absolutely hilarious how some people are criticizing Carney for not making a deal when...this is what you deal with. I've never dealt with a pedophile in real life (that I know of), but if this is how they "negotiate", count me out.

See the anti-tariff ad Doug Ford has been airing in the U.S.
That's a good ad, no wonder he hates it.

Doug Ford better avoid speedboats on Lake Ontario for a while.

Trump just announced that he's increasing tariffs on Canada by an additional 10% as retaliation for Ontario's political ad airing during the World Series, as reported by CBC News just now. He continues to repeat the lie that the ad is fake and that Reagan "loved tarrifs."

Dude is such a reprehensible sack of s***. Still can't believe we have to deal with this petulant man-baby for the next several years.

I thought the tariffs were because of fentanyl. Now they are because of commercials? What's next, incomprehensible nonsense?

Funny that they haven't mentioned fentanyl in months. The only time it was brought up was during the last Oval Office meeting with Trump and Carney where the orange dips*** actually said that Canada has been doing a good job on drug seizures at the border.

These clowns never had any intention of lifting tariffs, providing relief from them, or negotiating in good faith. The Ontario ad was just the perfect excuse Trump needed to call off negotiations.

I like the ad and it's obviously got the attention of Americans, which was the intended goal, and that's great. But you have to wonder at this point if Carney might put a muzzle on Ford from here on out and tell him to shut the f*** up and let the Feds handle the tariff issue. Seems like every time Ford or the Ontario government tries to insert themselves into the situation, he just makes it worse.

Problem is tariffs are like taxes. Once enacted they hardly ever get repealed.

Days of free trade are over.

Canada should have considered (as in studied the merits of) a North American economic union along the lines proposed by O’Leary (which yes might have meant adoption of the US dollar). Probably off the table for the Americans in any event.

"We should have done what Kevin O'Leary suggested" is not good life advice to follow.

Yes, lets give up some sovereignty to Donald Trump to appease him, and then he surely won't demand and take more. He'll be satisfied with just a bit. Top notch rationality.

Dude I simply said that maybe the idea might have merit. As in look into it.

The intent is not to appease Trump but to leverage the situation into something that could possibly be even better for Canada than NAFTA. Of course certain things would have to be given up in return.

How is tying ourselves tighter to the Titanic good for Canada? Unless...you like where things are heading down there?
