Yeah, I like Rhett, but I'm not sure I can agree with his take here about Backlund. It felt like he started with Backlund not being a good captain because a good captain leads his team to the playoffs, and then when Pinder rightly reminded him that Iginla was captain for Flames teams that missed for many years, Rhett expanded it with the qualifier of number of years. It's sort of like saying a player isn't worthy of being one of the best if they haven't ever won the cup, which I disagree with. Hockey is unique from other sports where 1 or 2 great players can still not be good enough to win it all.
Backlund may be a quieter captain but he is a 2 way C that always draws top match ups and it always on the positive side of possession metrics
He’s not a hall of fame scorer like Iggy, he’s not a hard nosed guy like Skrudland, but he has a tough job every night and has done it well for years
He’s always been the guy to do his job while also easing in a young linemate and getting a lot out of them
Tkachuk said his dad was a big fan of Backlund, thought Matthew was fortunate to play with him
He’s not what Rhett wants but he deserves credit for what he does
He’s fine for what this team is right now. He put the time in, deserves the recognition, but we aren’t dragging this team into battle.
Same reason why Huska is here, I’d almost point to both of their contracts as were the plan is to come out of a rebuild
I can't imagine their sponsors are too enthused about the 18k subs and 3500 views a show
Maybe not. Half of their sponsors have been there since day one though. I can’t imagine that they hang around for three years and all of a sudden pull the plug. Who knows though. Viewership might be down because of how the season has started
But I did notice that Origin doesn’t seem to be a sponsor anymore. Which is a big loss, considering they had/have a couple different beers with Origin

I wonder what the podcast numbers are vs live viewers.
And yeah, I noticed that too about Origin when BB started promoting that nonalcoholic beer. The nosey b in my always wonders what the conversation looks like when you're ending or not renewing a sponsorship. Especially when it's seemingly been a bit part of the show and they're talked about a lot. Kind of like when the other car dealership they partnered with at launch wasn't there anymore.
EDIT: I know it's largely because of the season the flames are having, but I also wonder if BB needs to be daily and not like twice or thrice a week.
One issue that sponsors face is that the message gets tired after a while. Also, it is pretty safe to assume that the audience is largely the same people, over and over. You have one marketing budget - how long do you keep advertising to the same audience? At some point, there is no further upside to it.
And thus the constant rotation of advertisers.
