Svechnikov is coming off of his only down year, and is deep in the doghouse, playing on the fourth line. The previous four years, he is a point per game player and a play driver. Locked up for four years, 25, and Calgary is worrying about possibly getting to the floor next year.
If you can do Ras for Svech, I'm not sure why you do not take that seriously.

Honzek will be fine. Even if you get a top 9 player out of him, that's a good pick.
This is exactly why the people who want to tank for years couldn't handle it. They think every player drafted should be a stud and don't realize developing a player can take 4-5 years, no matter their draft pedigree. A lot of fans don't have patience for that, especially the die hards on CP.

The Flames absolutely have to address the center situation and bringing in a talented winger doesn't exactly do that. To compound matters, this upcoming draft is light on centers (Lawrence may get overdrafted). I wouldn't be against it but they would have to ship out a winger or two to make some room.

He was projected by many as a middle 6 guy so if that's what he turns out to be still a good player. Just not a home run and this is an organization that badly needs some home run picks in the first round.

Uh, no.
Generally the people who want a tank understand the likelihood of a player hitting increases at the top of the draft, and they generally carry higher ceilings...which is why we want those picks.

Totally- I just don't think that Carolina is that desperate. They're probably looking for a problem child swap rather than a trade up in age.

Robertson for Svech + actually sounds like a reasonable base for e.g. + Carolina and Dallas have a history of big trades already.

I'm not debating that. Even players picked top 5 can take many years to develop. A lot of fans don't have patience for that. They expect the player to pop in a season or two, if they don't, then it's a bust!
Can you imagine the freak out on CP if the Flames drafted first overall and the player was Juraj Slafkovsky.

And it's early days but there aren't a ton of clear home run picks after Honzek. I think there are guys with more upside (ASP, Perreault) but those guys have a lot of questions about whether there offense will translate to the NHL.
Given the lack of centres all things being equal, I likely would rather have Ritchie but that's still not certain.

Svech for Lafreniere might be another.
I wonder if we could grab lafreniere?

He's never hit a PPG season and he has one season above 25goals (he scored 30).
He's also on a fairly large contract and not a position we need.
For Ras, I would rather have a late 1st + a prospect.

Bzru has more points in NHL and AHL and is from the same draft.

They have the same NHL points. Bruzer has something like 22 more AHL games and 14 more points. Partly because Honzek made the NHL two years running out of camp.
Bruzer is playing very well in the A, no doubt. So is Honzek right now, just in the NHL.

Is Rasmus a fit in Tampa?
Moser is playing his off side and McDonagh is really starting to get up there.
I wonder if you could get Geekie out of there.

We don’t know if he will be fine or not.
He was a lottery pick (not high but still a decent pick). For the Flames to do well, these guys need to contribute more than a filler at some point
There is still time for him

But the chances of getting a player of Svech's quality with a late 1st is very slim. VERY slim. So why does that make sense?

Because a late first or a prospect could be anything, even a Svechnikov!
