Lets help Montreal retain their energy for tomorrow.

I want to see Demidov light up Skidder.

I think that might be an optimistic timeline. I could see this getting worse for another couple of seasons and hopefully bounce soon after with some premiere talent.

Don’t think we’re winning this game with 1 goal.

Montreal is about as run and gun as you get.

I think the Flames already have a handful of exciting prospects and will be adding two more 1st round picks in the upcoming draft.

The Flames are in the top 10 youngest teams in the NHL right now. That number is only going to go down.

I agree, but I think it took the Habs a couple of seasons even after the exciting prospects were in the system. Demidov would be the exception.

There will be excitement with up-and-coming talented prospects, I'm just not sure we'll see them being competitive on the strength of these players as quickly.

I agree that they're not going to be a playoff team next year, but with an important piece in Wolf and some stability in Weegar and Bhal the Flames are starting from scratch.

Last year, the Flames suffered their 6th regulation loss in game 17 (8-6-3)

and they suffered their 7th in game 22 (12-7-3)

and they still missed the playoffs.

To get to 96 pts, they need to play at a .627 pace the rest of the way - only 6 teams played the whole season at that pace last year (WPG, WSH, VGS, TOR, DAL and LAK). While COL, TBL, CAR, EDM and FLA were among the teams that didn't.

Not saying the season is done yet, but if they don't go on a significant winning streak soon, it won't be long before the hill is insurmountable.

The Flames aren’t making the playoffs now. I’m hoping for entertaining hockey and watching the youngsters develop

Yeah, the Habs are young, but they have been rebuilding for a long time. They aren't just dressing a bunch of raw kids:

Suzuki: 26
Caufield: 24
Dobson: 24
Dach: 24
Newhook: 24
Guhle: 23
Slavkovsky: 21
Hutson: 21
Demidov: 19

Other than Demidov, these kids have had some time to mature and improve.

Let's see what Parekh, Gridin, Honzek, Basha, Suniev, Reschny, Potter, Battaglia, Brzustewicz and Morin look like in 2 or 3 years before we make team comparisons. Even Coronato will only be 25 in 3 years.

Not really. With the strength of the Central, they probably have to be top 3 in the Pacific to make it. That means being ahead of 4 of the following:

VGS
LAK
EDM
VAN
SEA
UTH

Other than VGS, there aren't any powerhouses, but at least 2 of EDM, LAK, VAN and SEA are probably putting up decent seasons (96 pts or more)

I am not even sure they'll finish ahead of ANA.

Go Flames!! It is always good to beat the Habs. Last year I think we snuck out with a 1-0 or 2-1 game with Wolf being a stud.

UTH isn't in the Pacific, you would need to beat 3 of those teams.
LA has 2 wins
Vancouver just lost to Pittsburg 5-1 and the injuries are piling up
Seattle and Edmonton have 3 wins with the softest of schedules so far
Flames opponents have been like playing like .700 average

nobody is running away with anything

Not even saying for the Flames...96 points was the highest total in history to miss in the west, its likely slightly lower. Its probably low 90s to make the playoffs this year, not that that wouldn't also take a crazy effort.

Calgary ranks top 5 in the NHL in xGF% at five on five, yet sit dead last in both shooting percentage, and save percentage. A correction will come at some point, so it may as well happen against the Canadiens and their entitled fanbase.

6-2 win tonight.
