Some old guy showed up at the wrong location. Had no idea where to go. Was told he could scan the QR code to find out the information. He didn't even bother taking out his phone, straight up refused to do anything himself. He crossed his arms, leaned against the wall and told the guy that he would wait for him to figure it out for him. We bypassed the old dummy and it was smooth sailing after that though.

Explain. He seemed reasonable enough last time around, far better than the candidate then known as Kourtney Branigan. Then again, he hitched his wagon to the Communities First party this time which is itself a red flag.
But if you need any more reasons why Penner wasn't getting back in, her Reddit AMA tells quite the story. No wonder she doesn't do any direct communication with people in her ward, she's a public relations mushroom cloud.

Reason: Removed craigwd's quote since it wasn't clear he was actually referring to Trustee candidate Ario and not Rob Ward.

I was actually referring to the trustee candidate that the Rob Ward supporters also seemed to be backing, but I wouldn't be surprised if Ward catered to that sort of thing.

Did Calgary just elect a new mayor with 26% of the vote?
First past the post is dumb and Canadians are dumb for continuing to use it.

Edit: I'm probably in the minority here but I think its worth waiting longer (although time can and should still be improved) to ensure the democratic process stays intact, rather than switch to computer voting or some other structure that could be highjacked by nefarious actors (Russians, oilers fans etc.)

Just going to point out here that the previous electronic tabulators that were used and subsequently banned by the UPC were NOT computer voting machines. They were isolated (ie not connected to a network), all they did was read the ballot and count the ballot. Not the same at all as some of the electronic voting machines used in other countries.
Not saying this is what you were insinuating, but the fact these machines were outlawed by the Province is idiotic.

I'm pretty excited by this result in terms of ideological divide. Does this seem accurate to you:
Mayor - Center Right
Right of center - 6 councilors (Ward 1, 6, 10, 11, 13, 14)
Left of center - 6 councilors (Ward 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9)
Center - 1 councilors (Ward 2)
Undecided Race - Ward 12

That's exciting, I live in ward 2, with our all important swing vote, we expect all of the pork, lets re-orientate the green north, before any work starts

They were probably thinking that Joey Nowak was still in the lead, and with less than 500 votes separating Nowak (TCP) and Tyers (CF), it could be a recount situation.

Won’t be an automatically granted recount as it’s 1.6% of the total vote being different and the threshold is .5%.

I feel like this is the least credible election I've participated in in my lifetime. And that every subsequent election within Alberta will be worse for the foreseeable future.
Which isn't to say not credible or I don't accept the results. But its a depressing thought.

And I believe all of the votes were counted by hand afterwards anyways to double check
