Default Mac Users: Safari/Mail or Firefox/Thunderbird?

I've used Firefox and Thunderbird for years under Windows so when I got my MacBook I immediately installed that with which I am familiar.

Playing around with Safari, it seems to render pages faster. Is there a way to transport saved passwords from one browser to another?

I really can't tell the difference between Mail and Thunderbird.

Is it like choosing between a Porsche and a Ferrari or are there major differences between these applications?

Thanks.

I have both safari and firefox on my mac, but use safari most of the time, I only use firefox if a page doesn't open properly, I find safari does open pages faster, and apple claims it does too. As for email, I haven't tried Thunderbird for mac, mail does the trick just fine.

I have both as well and use Safari/Mail out of habit and like undergrad only use Firefox for webpages that Safari can't handle.

There is no dramatic difference between them as far as I can tell.

I 4th that. Safari is really, really quick.

Kinda OT, but check out this program for instant messaging. CNet news wrote a very favorable review so i checked it out, and wow.

I use Firefox/Mail. But I'm thinking of going back to Safari because there are too many bugs in Firefox. For example, in my location bar history, calgarypuck is down at the bottom, but the scroll bar isn't working. That's not the only bug I've found, but it is the most annoying. And yes, Safari is fast. I only switched to Firefox because my brother told me it was the most kickass browser and should give it a try.
