Crossing my fingers for Cooley. Easy guy to cheer for.

Won’t be super surprised if it doesn’t go well though

The tank is on. My only lament is that they didn't do it when Tkachuk announced he was not staying. Shoulda traded him for futures and not players.

We missed the playoffs those years anyway.

Cooley said he wanted to prove he doesn't suck.

Now is his time to sink or swim i guess. In an uncruel world he plays lights out let's in 2 stops 40 and is still a hero. Mixing in some 10 bell saves for good measure .

I dint know it matters who is in net if we aren't scoring . Period .

All this apprehension over playing Parekh is crazy. He either can perform or he cannot.

He has to be prepared for contact at all times . You can't shelter him , wrap him in bublewrap etc

Take the training wheels off and give him some shifts and let him learn.

Even the great Dion had some growing pains .

Ill say this though ....watching the Habs highlites last night with Caufileld and Hutson last night in OT wow what a treat . If Parekh has that in his future to look forward to ill happily wait.

Watching Parekh last night, I think he is faaaar from being NHL ready. I can guarantee if the option was available, he would be on the Wranglers this season.

He doesn't just have his D partner covering for him, but also the forwards. He has the physical tools, but is not mentally adapted to the league (yet).

I think that if you give him free reign, he will gain bad habits and you risk him becoming a one-dimensional offensive D. I would prefer we get a well-rounded offensive D a la Hughes or Makar.

For these reasons, I am ok for the staff to ease him in slowly. Short term pain, long term gain.

What sucks is that you can tell Parekh is playing tense. He’s frustrated when he makes mistakes or if he gets a bad bounce. I’m sure a big part of that is the pressure he puts on himself but it’s also probably him trying to adjust his game to be a little more conservative. Not sure if the coaching staff has told him to do that (entirely possible) or he thinks he needs to because he doesn’t want to make mistakes. I would rather he just play his game. Be dynamic and take risks. Hutson was seemingly allowed free roaming last year. His defence and decision making got better as the season went on. He adjusted. If Parekh is afraid to make the plays he normally would, he’s much more likely to make mistakes.

Not to say he gets a completely free pass on his play with no accountability. Just treat him like Bahl, Weegar and Andersson. They don’t get limited minutes when they mess up and cause a goal against. I hope the same is true for Parekh.

There is a lot of pressure on Cooley, he knows his leash is very short. It would be nice if the team really played well in front of him. They can't will goals out of thin air, but locking things down in their own zone would help.

I assume the turnstile won't be back in tonight.

Don't bring facts into this. Every team is much better than the Flames according to a handful of posters on here.

Well looking at it fairly:

Goaltending: Advantage Islanders - I'd say that Sorokin and Wolf is pretty equal, but Varlamov is way better than our back ups.

Defense: Advantage Islanders: Romanov, Pulock, Pelech, Schaefer, Mayfield, DeAngelo, and Boqvist is better than our defense with Pulock and Pelech being a bonafide top pair.

Forwards: Probably advantage to the Flames overall, but it's close and neither team has a great forward group. If Barzal and Horvat have bounceback seasons then the Islanders are probably better.

considering Parekh lets not forget the Flames schedule...he has played the Knights and Blues. Two pretty solid teams.

A player named Cooley will have great success tonight, but not the one wearing white and red

Not convincing arguments at all and could easily be flipped to favor the Flames across the board.

Maybe the 1st overall pick is a better prospect than the 9th overall who is slightly older?

I don't think I've ever commented on the schedule before in my life but man what a terrible schedule so far. 7:30 game at home in calgary to 7:30 game in utah 24 hours later is pretty nasty

I still have my Salt Lake Golden Eagles Jerseys, but I will be wearing Flames gear tonight. I save the Salt Lake Golden Eagles Jerseys for when I go to the Utah Grizzlies games.

I am still disappointed the Utah NHL team is not called the Salt Lake Golden Eagles.
