Watching both Buium and Schaefer play 20-25mins a night on much better teams should give you every indication that Calgary needs to find both a stable d-partner for Parekh but also play him more and on PP1 as much as possible.

He's yet to be used to his strengths, and hes just as ready as both those guys.

This is going to go one of two ways with Cooley in net, we either get totally blown out or he keeps a clean sheet, no mushy middle (I hate that description) on this one imo.

I guess we'll see.

Waiving Cooley would be easier to move him, I would think.

Are the Islanders a better team? They're 0-3. Minny was 1 whole point better than the Flames last year.

I think Parekh needs time to get used to the heavier game of the NHL, and the Western Conference in particular. A Zary-esque injury would hurt his development a lot more than bottom pairing minutes.

As for PP time, I agree, and I would also like to see PP2 get more ice time in general especially when PP1 is not going.

At the end of the day Parekh will get top 4 minutes whenever Andersson is traded, and I don't think that half a season on the bottom pairing is going to harm his development.

On paper they were supposed to be.
Minny by all indications has far more star/firepower than Calgary.

I'm simply pointing out where the comparisons that Parekh is struggling and the other 2 guys are flourishing isn't very fair.

2 games and 17mins a night with minimal PP time vs's 2 guys playing 22+ mins a night with double the usage on the PP.

Kaprizov also missed 41 games. Minnesota had a ton of other injuries too.

Minnesota is no question a better team and IMO one the next up in coming cup contenders. Kap's contract might have thrown a curveball into their plans though.

I think that the thing management and coaching were worried about this summer was where the goals were coming from and this year (so far) that fear seems to be coming forward. The team appears to generate chances but lacks finish. They need about an entire goal per game for them and another half goal per game against to go down to turn this thing around.

Flames have probably had the hardest schedule in the league...evey game has been in the balance in the third period missing probably their best offensive player.

Hope Cooley can get a W

It's early days but I think the offense will come. I still don't believe this group is what they were last year as 3rd worst scoring team. I think at best they're top 20.

It should be Bahl with Parekh and Parekh running PP1. But, I'd want Frost and Gridin on PP1 as well in lieu of Kadri and Farabee.

I haven't liked Parehk and Bahl together, to be honest. Bahl is too often a step behind. It's a shame Weegar and Parehk are both right handed shots, as they've shown a lot of chemistry. Flames just don't have great options with left handed shots at the moment.

The fact this isn’t the blueprint so far is insane to me.

Huska easing Wolf into the league last year with favourable starts worked great for him, but this can’t be the catch all policy for every rookie.

What glimpses of glory has our coaching staff seen from the powerplay over the last 2 years that makes them think the strategy shouldn’t be a complete overhaul with Zayne as the QB.

I don’t care if we get scored on twice every time he generates a positive chance. This conservative strategy in the hopes that we might win enough 1 goal games to sneak in as an 8th seed for a 1st round exit is a plague on the franchise.

Isn't Frost on PP1?
