Eichel must have been reading this thread yesterday. 2 goals on us and 9 points in 4 games. Lol.

Correct. They invested a high pick in him. I don't think they trade him.

Now that's he's in college, the college player rules apply to him, so they own his rights until 2028.

I remember when he was there for us after we traded down the first time and BT traded the pick again. High skilled guy but questions about compete/motor. and as you say, injuries have taken a toll. Where would he slot into the lineup though? Needs to be top 9 to be effective.

Points versus Calgary don't prove much (though he had a great game last night).
Not sure where you get your nine points in 4 games though. Last 4 games he has 4 points, and was shut out the game before last. He has 9 points total versus the Flames since going to Vegas (in 12 games). He actually had a better PPG versus Calgary in Buffalo (7 in 7).
But that's not that unusual. A good but not elite centre like Scheifele has 26 points in 25 games versus Calgary versus Eichel's 16 in 19. JT Miller has 34 in 25.

You must be looking at something else (goals maybe?), he had four points in his first game and has a point in every game (7 going into the Flames’ game, 9 after 4).

Oh, I thought he was talking just versus the Flames

He's obviously having a great start to the year. Way above his average.

I'd love to take flyers on guys like Lapierre and sillinger. I honestly think that they would be cheaper to trade for than most people think. Especially lapierre, who is in a position to fail in Washington.
The problem i see is that calgary has tied its hands in the center position, and to a lesser extent at forward. Zary or lapierre as 4th line center isn't great.
Still, better than what the Capitals are doing with him.

The way I remember it, and please correct me if I'm wrong, is that the Flames' main target was Dawson Mercer- but they started trading down when Mercer was selected with pick #18 (I think the Flames originally owned pick #19?).
At any rate, the question would indeed be where we put him, as there's really no room for a project right now.

This was the rumored case and I fully believe that the Flames have been pursuing Mercer since.

If we are looking at the Flames firmly as sellers this year what are the assets you prioritize moving?
Andersson is the obvious first choice. He is getting dealt and the only thing stopping him would be this team going on a huge tear and he agrees to a 6 year term. Not happening.
Coleman makes a ton of sense to move this season with 50% retention so a team gets 2 runs at $2.45M I think he can get a 1st.
Frost/Farabee/Sharangovich are guys I would move but not sure there will be a ton of interest.
I probably hold onto Lomberg unless a team overpays with a 2nd.
Kadri is interesting. He has a lot of value and every single Canadian team would want to add him let alone teams like the Avs. The full NMC restricts the ability to deal so I could see the team holding onto Kadri going into next year. They won’t gut all the vets and if this is a down year I think they will want to be better next year and beyond so it makes sense to keep Kadri if he doesn’t want to leave.

I would move anyone not named Wolf, Coronato, or Parekh.
It should be open season on our players.
Edit: I should add any prospect drafted in the last two years to the list. So, Reschny, Gridin, Potter etc.

For me it's Kadri, Coleman and Rasmus. I would 100% trade Coleman and Rasmus this season. I also think we can afford to retain salary on all 3, just need to open up a spot in the summer for Kadri.
28/29 we have some RFA's who could get raises, but really by then if we stay away from UFA players, we should have tons of space to sign these players and still have Kadri on the books. Whoever we draft in last years draft or this years draft will be on their ELC until Kadri is off the books.
If you trade all 3 with 50% RS, Conroy should end up with a boatload of picks and prospects.
All 3 out opens the door for other players to get a bigger role. Zary can stay at center but a top 3 center role rather than 4 line.
Farabee looks like a good fit with Backlund
Coleman out and Farabee to the Backlund line opens up a spot for Klapka, or you can keep Gridin up for the season in a top 6 role.
Kuznetsov can get the call and Parekh can get more minutes.
Those 3 out probably puts us in the running for last in the league but also gives us some chance to stay competitive each night. Lots of losses but hopefully close games most nights.

I don't hate it, but I don't think Kadri is going anywhere. And I'm very ok with that.

In terms of trade assets.
Andersson is clearly the top priority. And then I would probably have Coleman after him. And Kadri next on that list (but my guess is that's more a 2026 offseason discussion).
Lomberg should be traded too. He's a 4th liner, UFA, that shouldn't be a priority to extend. If you can even get a 3rd for him then you take that and run.
Frost is an interesting one too - I'd be in no rush to trade him but if you can get an overpayment then you think about it for sure.

I feel like every Canadian team would love to add Kadri. Here is how I would rank them in terms of need.
1. Montreal- they have assembled a pretty strong squad with a lot of pieces locked in and no one makes more than the $9.5M Dobson signed for. Kadri could be a piece that puts them into contention
2. Vancouver- they have a huge hole from trading Miller and Kadri fills it in almost every way. He brings the grit and heart as well as the need for a second line center. If Vancouver had a bounce back to 2024 then I could see them jumping to the front of the line
3. Toronto- Treliving loves Kadri and what he brings. He fits a need for the Leafs and they could use a boost at forward with the loss of Marner
4. Edmonton- Kadri would be a great piece to have against the Panthers. They could load McDrai and still have Kadri anchor the second line. He would put them over the top
5. Winnipeg- forever chasing a 2nd line C. With Toews it might not be as much of a need but if he falters then Kadri would be a perfect fit
6. Ottawa - probably is set with Cozens, Pinto (is Stutzle a C?). Kadri would bring the veteran presence a team trying to get over the hump would love to add
