I do feel we will struggle most of the season, but I will NEVER and I repeat NEVER actively cheer for my team to lose with hopes of winning a magic lottery, which we all know is rigged and will never favor the small market Flames. I enjoy it when the Flames give it their best and never give up. It is the culture that I most like about the Flames. We are not Buffalo, San Jose and others who are habitual basement dwellers and who never improve despite their high draft picks and I for one am glad about that.

A few things I just can't comprehend ...

1) I can't imagine constantly cheering for the Flames to lose. I get tired actively cheering for my Flames to win and am only somewhat disappointed when we lose. Some people on here who say "every loss makes me measurably happy." I guess I just don't understand how you can be a fan with that attitude. I get the desire to draft higher, but that is never guaranteed. As some people have stated, you could go 0-82 and still lose the lottery.

2) We have a lot of people that are struggling on the team and I agree need to be shipped out. I am just not sure what everyone expects they are getting on the return. If the players we want to get rid of are absolutely "trash" hockey players on a basement dwelling team, what is the return going to be. And some of our less than stellar players have high contracts and are not currently worth their value. If any of you have gone to a garage sale, no ones pays top dollar for other people's scraps. We will be lucky to give them away in some cases (or have to retain).

3) There is still a lot of games to be played and in sports anything can happen - that is why I love sports. I am glad I don't have the doom and gloom attitude that prevails. There is 95% of the season still to be played. I am glad I didn't walk out on a exam in school after completing 4/82 of the questions. There will be adjustments, there will be personnel changes, there will be the influx of youth, there will be growing pains. I am just going to enjoy the rest of the games and cheer my Flames on.

Go Flames Go!

He'll need to play much better if the Flames hope to increase his trade value.

As long as he's even serviceable, he should bring a 1st as a rental, so I doubt waiting has hurt.
Maybe the return won't get worse, but I doubt it gets better. Maybe if Rasmus contract demands change if he has another bad year.

Buium is struggling in his own zone, but Minnesota is playing him 21 a night and almost 6 a night on the PP. It will be interesting to see how he improves as the season goes on. Minnesota has been amazing a developing their players.

Parekh is playing 17 mins a night and sat 2 games. 3rd in D mins on the PP. Trading Ras in the summer would have gave Conroy time to add a veteran dman to help with the fact our D right now is very bad other than Weegar.

Why Parekh isn't getting #1 PP time right now is beyond me, at least #2 time and more than Ras.

Didn't have his best game last night but I think a mismatch in style with Kadri is part of that (and Kadri had a rough game)

Think teams a prepared to play the Flames this year so the hard work has less of an impact. Teams are ready for it.

PP is where he adds the most value.

Honzek looks like he might have taken a step. What a positive!

Then again he is playing with the best two way players on the team and everyone looks good with them.

I kinda hoped some more guys would have stepped up this year, but I think she's gonna be a long one!

Props to Huska for throwing Parekh out there in the last couple of minutes early in the season; that's the only way he's going to learn. I'm eager to see how much his game improves. He's going to be a force in a few years. Embrace the suck now so we can reap the rewards later.

I was called out for poor language when describing Miromanov's play recently so I'll choose my words more carefully here.

He is not an NHL caliber defenseman and should not be playing in any situation.

He is definitely the easy choice to waive to the Wranglers when Huberdeau is back.

The weird thing with Miromanov is he's either playing with Weegar on a high leverage pair, or he's in the press box.

I think he could maybe carve out a niche on a third pair somewhere but they seem to have him as top pair or press box here.

Which is just weird utilization of any player

To be fair he's also a weird player! Hard to figure out where he should fit in.

It also could help him build confidence. Buium isn't playing well in his own zone but contributing on the PP. At least he has some positives to build on while he works on his defensive game..

Yes - I do. I hope they lose every single night but I still watch the games.

Gavin Mckenna is the plan and your job as an organization is to maximize that possibility. EVEN if you don’t get #1, you’ll get #2, #3, #4.

That’s the way that the NHL is structured now. It’s the only way back to relevance is to draft your own Eichel, McDavid, Mackinnon, Matthews etc.

Yeah, totally Curves. It was definitely that common thing where the plane is going to take the team to their next road game but the GM screams out "hold that plane a few hours and **** up their sleep schedule, I'm working the phones!!!!"

You come up with the craziest ideas, man, it's hilarious.

Guessing there was a way to say "I don't think they'd throw off a team's travel schedule for that" with less ridicule ... no?

He should have been put on waivers at the end of TC instead of Solovyov. That decision still boggles my mind.

Looking at PuckIQ and Miromanov played 25% of his EV ice against elite talent vs Weegar who was at 28%.

Pachal got 16%
Bean got 17%

If Miromanov was put in the same position as Pachal or Bean, he definitely could have better numbers than either of those 2. It has to be worth a look if he can excel in a reduced role.

Need more shots and goals from everyone.
TBF, Schmid played the majority of the game for Vegas and was 1.000 SV%.

Wolf didn't play badly. And he made at least two incredible saves. Schmid wasn't tested much.
