Bill Richardson is the most well-rounded candidate in my opinion. He is not a lawyer like most of the other contenders. He entered politics to be a public servant and I think he would make a Hell of a president.
Both Clinton and Obama scare the bejeebus out of me.
I agree with you about Richardson, the problem is he doenst bring alot of votes with him, his state is already strongly democratic and doesnt have alot of votes to begin with. Plus he will get killed in the money train.
Not necessarily a bad thing if the rest of your country had stopped using their brains. If you're values are more in line with Canadians then Americans, why would it be a bad thing to relocate?
If Hillary gets in and introduces a Canadian model health care system she will have to underfund the military and raise taxes to do it. Eventually America will cease being top dog and world policeman. The question is who will replace them as big brother. The post won't go unfilled. Right now the heirs apparent are China, Russia, or Islamic fundamentalists.
Won't happen tomorrow but, within most of our life times.
I would vote for Gore! For serial!!! And I would want Hilary in as vice just so Bill can still keep us entertained. Seriously I think that would be amazing for the US, with Gore enviormental stance and Hilary's healthcare stance, it would truely help the people of the US IMO.
And he will be running, right before the primarys he'll join the race.
the US is hugely in debt. some would argue that they are basically bankrupt. where are they going to get the funds for healthcare for 300 million people and a proactive environmental posture which would in turn hurt the economy and leave them with even less revenues?
Wasn't my intention. Perhaps I should have worded it "The Republican's best chance of winning the next election would be if they were inept enough to allow an attack, which would be the second attack."

Increased taxes. The money for healthcare would need to be paid from SOMEWHERE - the money doesn't magically appear.
The question is what costs more - insurance or the tax increase? I worked for an HMO in Boston during the Gore/Bush/Nader election and there was a question on the ballot asking if they wanted Canada style health care. The HMO paid buckets and buckets and buckets of money on ads stating that the increase in taxes would be far, far more than what they pay in insurance.

You'd have to slash defense spending, institute real DoD accounting practices, cut corporate welfare (including agricultural subsidies).
There is more than enough money in the system, it's just grossly mismanaged.
Hillary Clinton would get my vote. Being a first lady at one time gives here somewhat of an advantage over others in the field.
IIRC she lobbied hard to get unversal healthcare in the States.
Hillary would never get my vote. She did some pretty slimey things while she was first lady. I don't see where it would give her an advantage over anyone else. I also don't want to see universal health care in the US. What a mess we could make of that. OMG I shudder to think of how awful that would be.

Nobody said anything about values being different...which would make this a totally different discussion. Running away because you don't like the probable outcome seems a bit dumb to me. I don't like the Liberals either...and I would NEVER move away if Dion became PM. My love for Canada extends beyond the PM's office.

'Course, I doubt that will happen in my lifetime.
Tons of money in the system....you have only mentioned a small part of what could be cut. I doubt it will happen though...the American people will freak out at the cost of health care. And considering how inept the government is at managing money, I doubt it will ever be set up properly.
