Edmonton politician says "... the devil lives in Calgary"
According to Edmonton councillor Mike Nickel: "We all know the devil lives in Calgary and vacations in Toronto."

Having lived in both cities, I find Edmonton has developed this insecurity complex when it comes to Calgary.

Could it be?
Seriously though, that's a pretty low-bridge comment. Shouldn't pitch stones from glass houses.

More useless utterings from Shelbyville. I guess that's why they beat us at football nearly half the time.

These people should get real jobs. Who has this kind of time to write, publish and print this crap? One guy in that article says it best; This nonsense is a figment of their imaginations.
If you're pissed because Businesses, Talent, People and Industry arent going to Edmonton, then get off your whiny ass and do something about it?
They're not coming to Edmonton because its so amazing and Edmonton's entitled to them. They dont go anywhere because they're entitled to it, you have to entice them with something.
That is some people's jobs. They are paid to attract industry. Perhaps Edmonton should look into hiring some of these people.

Meh. Everything that the guy from the economic development corporation said in the article is pretty astute and accurate. Unfortunately, despite the fact that this makes up the majority of the article, the paper instead chooses to lead with one controversial and uncontextualized soundbite from the councilman. It's not as if our own aldermans don't say a lot of dumb things that get picked up by the media, and these things rarely translate into policy. A less-antagonistic marketing campaign could even take advantage of Calgary, explaining how companies can be close to the business hub of Calgary but without the big-city bustle.

If they had as much hookers and blow as we do, they wouldn't be crying so much.

The complex that Edmonton has is pretty simple to understand:
Most of the people in Edmonton work jobs for companies based (nationally or regionally) in Calgary. Everyone has an insecurity complex towards their employers...
I love Alberta!

I actual thought that was a photoshop job until I saw the front cover on the Edmoton Sun website.

Edmonton would be better off battling with Regina or Winnipeg. This just isn't a fair fight.

When I read the title of the article in the Calgary Sun: "Calgary 'Satan's Choice' the first thing I thought...Miroslav had requested a trade from the Islanders.

Geez Louise, where do I hire a boss like that?

I think Edmonton is starting to catch up. Ace of Base and Aqua are starting to become very popular there.
I'll admit this though...Edmonton still have the best bubble tea house in the province.

"While Edmonton roads are plagued with potholes, Calgary doesn't seem to have a significant problem.
Its transit system - especially light rail transit - is light years ahead of ours."
Uhhh....ours are more congested for sure
