These funds are paid for by ATA dues, they are completely independent from the employer & government.

It was a fairly big explosion, there could have been debris.

Well today is the day where you can apply for the $30 a day handout for kids under 12. Since most teachers I know are married to other teachers...I'm sure they love getting money from a Government that essentially has them currently out of work.
I asked my oldest kid to let me know if the Grade 10 Science resources that the Province is handing out will try and discredit science as being a conspiracy made up by the anti-Christian establishment.

You say that, but in my recollection those guys were useless. Less 'teachers' and more essentially just 'babysitters.'

I had a Calgary Stampeder as a Sub...and then later in life I ended up working with him at Greyhound and watched him get stoned as hell and drive a forklift into a Bus.

Meh, they weren't bad. We at least thought they were cool so we'd stay on task just to not disrespect them.
The best were the subs you could walk all over.

As far as I can figure out, the website to register for the handout isn't working.

Oh its not even that...they knew they were only there for a day or two and yeah, they were cool. Not authoritarians or anything, but they kind of wanted to just be your friend because they're not responsible for you for 8 months.
"Lets just get through the day."
Also, in retrospect, I'm pretty sure he was stoned as hell.

I'm sure you did. I took some classes with him in education. He is the reason why my buddy named "Stu" was given the nickname "Mr. Pid" by me. He told me they called Stu Laird that on the Dinos. Get it - "Stu Pid". I stole it.
Speaking of subs: After I decided to be a lawyer, I spent one more year as a sub while I took some classes at U of C to upgrade. Being a sub is what a lot of people (including on this site) think being a full time teacher is - show up at the beginning of classes, go home right after, don't take any work home, don't lesson plan, etc.

My grade seven math teacher was a retired wrestler. If he put his hand on your shoulder you knew the time to start behaving was 30 seconds ago. Who knew there were so many nerves in a shoulder.

Alright. So the ATA need to pilfer the ranks of the CFL, Professional and Semi-Professional Wrestling and then this problem is solved?
Really the teachers should be against the CFL when it basically became a Pro League and deprived them of their seemingly limitless pool of potential Teachers.
They're the real villains here!
