Valentin Vacherot who needed a withdrawal from another player to even get into qualifying for the Shanghai Masters wins the tourney beating his cousin Arthur Rinderknech in three sets. Incredible story.

Forgot to mention that Victoria Mboko lost to Dayana Yastremska in straight sets 6-3 7-6. Vicky going through a tough stretch at the moment along with the fact that she is now a known commodity, she can't sneak up on any players anymore.
Joao Fonseca was up a break in each of the first two sets facing BVDZ in Brussels and ended up losing the match in straight sets. It has been a rough end of the season for the young Brazilian, but the key word is young, these tough lessons will pay dividends down the road.

Tough loss for Gabe earlier today in Almaty as he loses a close three setter to James Duckworth 6-7 7-6 4-6 despite hitting 22 aces in the match. He made the final last year thus he's losing significant ranking points as a result (live rankings has him at #41)
Shapo made it a lot more difficult for himself, but prevailed in three sets over Bjorn Borg's son Leo in Stockholm. He will take on the winner of Jacob Fearnley vs. Elias Ymer on Friday.
Leylah is into the quarter-final at the Japan Open following a straight sets win over Galfi. She faces Sramkova next which presents a good chance to make the semis.
On his 4th match point, Felix wins over Damir Dzumhur which went to a 3rd set tie-breaker. Just under 3 hours was this tussle, Dzumhur never makes it easy.

GMP just defeated Lorenzo Musetti in the Brussels quarter-finals opening the door for Felix to get closer to Musetti in the race to Turin. If Felix wins his match over Eliot Spizzirri later today, he will move to 9th (i.e. first alternate) for the ATP Finals.
Felix was playing great up a set and a break, but Spirzziri started playing amazing tennis, got the break back and had three set points to force a 3rd set. Felix saved all those set points and played a great tie-break to win in straight sets 6-2 7-6. Way to go Felix!!
