It could be argued that the stars would prefer to keep Bourque for a nearer term, cheap additive to their lineup, but they also have guys like Chase Wheatcroft or Emil Hemming in the AHL that can probably fill the same role.
I would prefer the trade you outlined, but I am not sure we can get it.

Agreed.
I think this draft is pretty deep (at least as of now) but that also means harder to get picks. Though I would also take a 2027 1st to continue to spread out the picks.
Probably in order of what Dallas would prefer:
Bourque+2nd
Bourque+Protected 2027 1st
Bourque + 2026 1st
Bischel+Bourque
Bourque + Unprotected 2027 1st.
Bischel+2nd
Bischel + Protected 2027 1st
Bischel + 2026 1st
Bischel + Unprotected 2027 1st.

I think he's a third line guy when Huberdeau comes back, but he's not going to be bought out.

First liners: Kadri
Fourth liners: Kirkland, lomberg
2nd/3rd liners: everyone else
I think this is fine. The hope is that a couple of the younger guys (Gridin, Coronato seem like top candidates) develop to the upside and become first liners. And maybe you get a bonafide first liner player via the draft and maybe you pick one up as a UFA. Meanwhile some of the other second/third liners will get traded (like Coleman).
If the flames end up with a serviceable first line, 2 second lines and a third line. I think that's the recipe for a successful forward group, especially with a great goalie at the back and a higher quality backend.
Front this perspective, Sharky and Farabee fit the mold.

Interestingly enough, Farabee has been second among forwards in TOI through the first two games, behind only Kadri. As was the case last season, Andersson has been our overall ice-time leader so far.

At this point we don’t get more than Bourque + 2nd and probably not even that.

I don't really see why the Flames would have any interest whatsoever in Mavrik Bourque.
Especially when Kerins still hasn't been given a prolonged shot at the NHL.
Lian Bichsel, on the other hand, makes a lot of sense when you consider the Flames' depth with offensive defensemen.
Personally, I'd rather the Flames get a mid-round 1st than a late first + prospect. The Flames have enough prospects that are late-first quality. They need more guys like Reschny with true upside.
Regardless of whether Andersson is willing to extend, if a middle-of-the-pack team is willing to give up their 1st, the Flames should be interested. This surely would have been possible a year ago when Andersson had more term left.

I wouldnt be to upset with borque and a 2nd, but Borque does feel a little redundant at this point now with Frost and some drafted centers.
He really feels like a younger version of Frost to me.
Id take Bischel or a 1st overall Borque.

I don't get it either. As a throw in, fine I guess, but I don't think he has a lot of value. He'd struggle to play higher than the 4th line.

Yeah. Don’t see why the flames would pay to get rid of Cooley. They have planting cap space. They could just put him on waivers and send him down if they got another goalie.

Not surprised we're going to try and see what we have with Cooley/Prosvetov first and not surprised Cooley is playing either tomorrow or, more likely, Wednesday. Wolf is young but playing 2 back-to-backs in less than a week is a lot to ask.

At having 4 goalies on 1- way deals... who cares? Murray? Dude we've run at 30 million dollars under the cap over 2 seasons.
We're going to need to find a handful of reliable backups over the next decade or so. That involves throwing a bunch of #### against a wall. No one should feel like their hands are tied considering the meager investment that this takes.

I don't think this is about the money. It's more about play time/spots for the younger goalies in Say and Sergeev. If the Wranglers have Prosvetov and Cooley in the lineup then both Say and Sergeev have to share time in the ECHL.

I think if we could get Edstrom or Wood we should be interested. Doubt their 1st is in play though.

If I remember correctly, the flames were reportedly very high on Wood and he went one pick ahead of us
