Lots of upper cut swings too, just didn’t make much hard contact.

This is for a trip to the world series for the first time in over 3 decades. This is a different level of pressure and much brighter lights.

It does tonight, but having a manager, who has history of making bad pitching decisions in the previous 2 playoffs, is a big issue going forward for all sorts of other reasons for the team.

The batting tonight was shades of the 1st month of the season and much of the 2023 and 2024 seasons.

The Jays couldn't have asked for a more favorable setting for game 1 being at home against an opponent that played 15 innings 2 days ago. Maybe it was just too favorable and they thought it'd be an easy win, hopefully they get their heads out of their asses and actually make the Mariner starter work a bit tomorrow

Yup but even with a win tomorrow they have to win 1 at least in Seattle to play another home game.

They'll have to because a loss tomorrow would be a very tough situation to come back from.

Help, save, whatever.

Jays definitely seemed to be overswinging that game. Ump was kind of all over the place for both teams which probably didn't help. Whoever did the Yanks series did a great job. The guy today was not great.

Advantage squandered. They'll need to do it the harder way now.

Schneider “trying to read the situation” in the game and was surprised about the wild pitch because you “can’t anticipate it”. You brought in a guy who throws balls in the dirt 1 of every 3 pitches and you can’t foresee that there might be a wild pitch coming?
Also said he “wanted to turn Polanco around”. He struck out twice earlier against Gausman who waved at the pitches.
No real comment on walking Raleigh.
Not at all convincing argument. He messed up, plain and simple. Bringing in Little gave up a run. A dumb move by a scared manager to rush to pull Gausman after he retired 16 in a row before Raleigh.
A manager who strikes again after the Seattle series and Twins series with terrible decision with Garcia and Berrios.
Gausman said he felt good and had a lot of gas left.

Viewership has been incredible these playoffs. Averaging 3.8mil per game, with 11.5mil tuning in to at least parts of the games.

Yeah, Jays bats were nonexistent tonight and that was the biggest factor, but there was still a shot to win this game if Gausman didn’t pitch to Cal Raleigh. I know it’s baseball and anything can happen but that was a very bad decision. Pitch to the guy with 60 reg season homers…uh huh, great call.

I would have hit Schneider for Gimenez. Clement to SS, Schneider to 2B.

Let's be accurate about it though.
He retired a bunch in a row before the Raleigh HR, then immediately walked the next guy. And yeah, pulling him didn't work.

I'm more concerned about Barger and Santander not getting on base recently. To me you can't have both in the lineup at the same time. Santander should be off the bench IMO. I know they invested a lot in him but it's results driven, and while there are signs he's doing something right he can't get on base for the life of him. Lukes, if not hurt should be out there.

I have disliked Santander but he’s one of the two guys who got a hit tonight.
