Selling OTM options before earnings then buying back after the post-earnings IV crush has been beautiful for me this week.

Mag 7 earnings started tonight, although Nvidia is not for a few more weeks.

Dollarama is a little workhorse. Lots of runway with tons of stores opening.

Last few years things have been pretty positive (ridiculously good tbh), a little worried it's maybe skewing expectations going forward. Certainly not a complaint but trying to remain reasonable and grounded.

So lucky today that NVDA invested in INTC. Been holding INTC since I bought it at nearly $35. I unloaded it at a loss, with the thought that it'll likely take some time before the company turns around. Plus NVDA supposedly only owns about 5% of the company, so ultimately not that much. Anyway, happy that so much of it was recovered today.

How do we feel about gold prices? They are already about projected 2027 prices from the few "blogs"/writers I follow, most are still projecting +$5000 USD per oz by 2030. Will they hold or will they recede? I think if we keep seeing continual world uncertainty, it will hold or climb until things stabilize. But, that is just a feeling... from a lemming. Haha.

EDIT - I am holding some minor debt - below 20k at 4.5% interest... I have been avoiding paying it off due to the run everything has been on. All my dividends are paying better than 4.5%, and gold is the one thing I have been debating selling to pay the debt off.

Pretty speculative but the large deal with Microsoft has helped. I'm in fairly large of nebius group at around $30 a share.

So there was a post on wallstreetbets a while back about a guy who got an 800k inheritance from his grandma and dropped 700k of it into intel a day before their earnings report. That was the same earnings report where they cancelled the dividend and announced mass layoffs. He lost like 100K within seconds of the market opening the next day and proceeded to go down about 30% within the trading day. This lead to one of my favourite memes ever, dead intel grandma:

Even after their massive bump last week he still just barely broke even.

I'm not a CFA guy, but I believe gold hasn't kept up with inflation over time. It's more a hedge, and even then the market has been running up. Personally I missed a lot of this run up because I took a large cash position expecting a pullback. Seems like a lot of the market uncertainty is clearing and this is the new normal. Not sure if I'd personally ever invest in gold.

That's pretty funny (though sort of sad too). I'm happy I got out of intel at pretty much it's recent high. I'm done with the speculative stocks. I'm waiting for a pullback to get more into the tech giants as those will (IMO) continue to gain momentum leading the AI wave.

Bitcoin has bounced off the lows after Trump said maybe he won't not need to maybe meet with Xi.

It has been so long since we’ve seen a crash this severe, you’d have to go all the way back to a few months ago

I wish I had more time to spend looking at what this dipsh-t administration is doing so I could put more effort into making these sorts of plays. In hindsight, it always seems so obvious what’s about to happen.

It would get depressing hearing about it, but at least I could dab the tears dry with my new-found wealth.

In hindsight, it can be. But there are plenty of times when "it seems so obvious" and the opposite ends up happening, too. The unpredictability is what makes it an impossible game for anyone but insiders to play.

But maybe I'm wrong on that, are there any good resources forecasting these big moves and making money? I don't think I could guess, myself.

How did insiders know that bitcoin was going to take a dump?
