lol. all these whiners about Wolf playing too much in game 2 of the regular season.
Were you not around when Kipper was around with useless backups? lol
I really think we should have kept Vader. He looked pretty good last night against the Panthers.

Being on team tank is a bit odd, because you want high picks, but cheering for your team to lose is bizarre, you can't realistically watch and root against your team. I think hollering about coaching decisions and roster choices is just an outlet for frustration.
They just don't realize yet they have to disengage and start following college and junior hockey or you're going to have a really miserable time. Watching a bad team sucks

Reminds me of when Boucher and Sauve were our backups and Sutter wouldn't play em because there was no trust.

I'm sure he would have re-signed if we gave him 2 X $4.

Yeah and I also remember him being burnt out every playoffs and never making it past the first round.
I don't have a problem with Wolf playing back to back nights to start the season, especially given that he's young. But there's way more load management with goalies these days and even back when Kipper played the amount of starts he got was pretty abnormal.
Personally I would have tried trading Vladar last season as I think he would have had some value to teams. But I definitely would have re-upped during the offseason with someone more reliable than Cooley/Prosvetov.

Doubt it, he got 3.35x2 with a shot at being a starter which if succesful will net him a lot more money. He would have lost last night anyway...in fact he did

He wasn't burnt out in the playoffs because lost in round 1 every year.
It was because our team was so offensively inept with our 1.11111162 goals a game. lol

Zary - Backlund - Coleman
Farabee - Pospisil - Klapka
Lomberg
That actually feels like how this team should be deployed in an ideal state the wingers could flip around, and maybe Honzek and Gridin eventually flip between AHL and NHL or maybe you open a spot for Kerins somewhere
But those 13 forwards+ Kerins + Honzek + Suniev + Stromgren seem to be the best forwards in this org right now and should be deployed that way. Honestly guys like Kirkland or Hunt are career journeman that have no place on this team. They aren't part of the future, and they aren't good enough to be blocking a younger player with more upside now.

Yeah, I don't get the reluctance to do this either. No downside as guys can move up/down the lineup has the heat up/cool off.
Huska is a weird man. Old school energy line has never really worked for him when you look at advanced stats (and eye test most nights).

Yeah we were and he was worn out by the end of those seasons hence all the first round defeats where he wasn't always playing his best.

I'd argue if you wanted more of a gritty physical 4th line that Farabee-Pospisil-Klapka does a better job of that then Lomberg-Kirkland-Klapka does anyways, while having more offensive upside and being younger.

Yeah, the punchy stuff is no deterrent anymore because of the power of special teams.
When Cooley got smoked, nothing. When Zary got smoked, there was almost a thing but we needed the PP to get back in the game and could not risk an instigator. Lombo looked awkward, like a dude realizing maybe the game has passed him by, 'what do I do?' Score a goal. Retribution has to come on the scoreboard first, no matter how good it would make us feel to see the opposition beat up in a scrap.
A fast physical line that posses a threat to score is way scarier than punchy punchy. I mean, Lombo is a specimen but he is no Big Ern.
(also I think Lombo vs Kane is not the sure thing a lot of people seemed to think t would be)

I think there is a middle ground where many of us on this board reside. Most of us I think agree that the Flames have done a great job of replenishing the farm system over the last several drafts but could really use a top 5 pick to really push this rebuild/retool forward. While I still believe a top 5 pick in next years draft is in the Flames best interest, I am not cheering for losses and still will be happy when the Flames win. I think the roster overachieved last year and they will regress to the mean most likely this season and sell off some vets, but I still can cheer for wins. If they overachieve I am not going to be mad about watching meaningful hockey. I think you can want a high draft pick but also not go full tilt with cheering for losses.

They had a huge schedule advantage last night and really weren't that great. Score is pretty flattering to them they got out chanced by the Flames in their home opener.

That game last night should have been a crazy sloppy 5-5 settle it in overtime affair (like last year) - Flames did not take their chances. Poor execution and bad night by Wolf.
The reconstructed Nucks are not better than their team at the start of last season.
A few stars and a patchwork of vets. Elias never gets back to his zenith, Hughes is already planning his exit, and Demko will break any minute now. I'm not convinced.

To people asking why Wolf played back to back... have you watched even one Cooley game since his injury last year?
The result would not have changed.
