To the best of my knowledge, Sharangovich is a team player and well liked within the organization. He’s just not putting up the offensive stats to justify his pay.

Let's not forget he's one of few 20-goal scorers in this team.

Sure, but you asked if there were any players that fit the bill, so there you go.

This is a good observation. Seattle has Grubauer, a veteran of over 300 games with a 90.8% career save percentage and a 5.9 M cap hit for only this season and next. I wonder if Seattle would give the Flames draft pick(s) to take Grubauer.

I like this idea.
Grubauer & 4th for
Farabee & Cooley/Miromanov
Frees up some space on the wing, gets rid of a one-way contract we don't need, gets us a backup goalie who is an anchor for them.

This is a gross trade for Calgary. Trade a 25 year old forward to get a 33 year old backup who makes $5.9M for 2 more years. Sorry but that is one of the worst suggestions I have read in a long time.

Trade a 25 yr old forward, who is blocking our prospects, contributes little, and is paid $5M/yr for the next 3 seasons. Anchor for an anchor.
We could actually use a backup goalie. We don't need a middle six LW.

I suppose I do not view Farabee as an anchor and I see our team lacking guys who can score 20 so not sure why we are sending one out for a higher priced backup goalie?
We certainly do not need to have 13.4M tied up in goaltending next year when the team could be looking at making other adds.
The original suggestion was taking Grubauer and getting a pick back and if we could get a 2nd then it might be worth looking at but to swap out contracts that makes no sense to me. I also have a higher opinion of Farabee than you which is why I think there is a disagreement

It’s just terrible value for Calgary excused because a guy is “in the way” and doesn’t really help us on the goaltender front.

Fair enough.
No one will argue Gru is overpaid and not great value. I am not a fan.
I see us having too many wingers, with more coming soon.
Coleman has value and we should unload at the deadline, but with Gridin, Suniev, Honzek, Kerins (Battaglia, Basha just behind) all pushing for places in the top 9 within the next year, we likely need to unload 2 wingers from the current lineup.
Personally, I see Farabee & Sharky bringing little to the club and would target these two to offload. I also doubt either has much/any value in the market. I suspect we will either need to sacrifice prospect development, or add a sweetener to off-load one of these two players.

Not commenting on the trade proposal specifically.
I’m not really sure what value Farabee has around the league. Philly was trying to dump him for a while after they decided he was surplus. But no one would take on the project because of the contract.
It took packaging him with Frost to move him.
He hasn’t done anything to help his case since the trade. He has a great work ethic and seems to be a good character but you don’t pay high energy checkers $5M/year.
I don’t think there is a market for him right now, so you would be paying a team to take him on.
Where he might fit in Calgary is on Backlund’s wing if Coleman is moved. Like Coleman, he might grow into his contract there. First by being a master checker and later by finding his offence.

Seasons just begun. I like Sharkbait still. Entire FW group needs a kick in their knickers to get scoring

I can't see any team taking on Sharangovich's contract based on last season's play without the Flames also taking on a bad contract. Over his career he's been good every 2nd season and he was bad last year so have to stay patient in hopes he gets hot then shop him hard willing to take back a minimal return just to get his contract off the books.

Sharangovich is stuck with us for the foreseeable future. I don't know what the funk is, but he needs to get out of it. Maybe we need to plant him with Backs and Coleman. I trust Zary to be able to contribute on any line. Sharangovich is beginning to look like someone that is very dependent on a play driver like Backlund to get things going.

Worst case scenario: Maybe Farabee is a buyout candidate in the future and Sharky stays as a 13th fwd that can be plugged into any line?

I dont think its fair to expect Sharangovich to be a dynamic two way 30goal guy.
There's a reason why NJD were willing to move on from him and why they had scratched him in playoffs.
His norm is to be a bit of a floater with a wicked shot. Hes fine as a secondary middle 6 scoring threat.
