If Cooley is in net, 4-2 loss. Flames got some pretty lucky bounces on the Coleman and Gridin goals. Hard work generated the Zary goal, so kind of have to expect a little something from the offence, but it'll be like 2-1, then 3-1, then 4-1 before a late goal to make it closer.

For me if the Flames are serious about their stated goals, more than 97 points, we're a playoff team etc, they would acquire a real backup. If the margins are truly so thin, every point matters, Cooley wouldn't start a single game.

At what cost though? Friedman already reported that Calgary is looking for a backup, so they are working on it.
Pull the trigger is you can find a backup better than what you have and the cost is acceptable. Otherwise, you see if the guy you have can handle it or if the other guy on the farm starts off well. It's an 82 game season - a few games from the backup are not season ending. Last year Vladar couldn't get a win between Nov and Feb and the team was still in it.

I like Rittich but Cooley is as good or better, so wouldn't give up assets to make that happen.
