A 2004 era black C jersey would look great in the new jersey fits. It's funny looking back on those old images and seeing how baggy the jerseys were on players. A modern version would be top notch as a third jersey, but I'm in agreement with most here that I hope they keep our current home and away forever. They are consistently ranked as among the best jerseys in the league.
I seem to be going against the grain but that third jersey patch from the cursive "Calgary" jerseys is not my favourite. I liked it originally but feel its showing its age.

They should put all the bad ideas into a single jersey.
Alberta shoulder patch
Pedestal
Ronald McDonald colors
“Calgary” on the front.
Black pants
Cowboy boot socks
That about cover it? Or am I still missing some stuff? The 89 jerseys and the 04’s are the only two that should exist. Want to say we’ve never made the playoffs in the Blasty young gun era ones? So that can f off as well.
Ken King once talked at a season ticket holder event about having his hand on the trigger of a jersey and ultimately deciding against it... I wonder if that's it.

There was a moment in time when the Flames wanted me to send in some design options for a 3rd jersey, and the directive I got was very specific about wanting CALGARY as a script logo. I hated it then, and wasn't surprised when that cowboy yolk jersey eventually came out that most seemed to hate. I'm not surprised they kept trying to make it work based on that leaked prototype.

Did you ever create any designs that you submitted? If so, are we allowed to see them?

I suspect the prototype was around the same time as the western yoke shirt.
The colors on the prototype are giving real Abbotsford heat vibes too

I found some of the emails. This was way back in 2005 and was going to be a new black jersey to replace the blasty as it was being retired. Looks like I had provided 132 different options of different striping and colour schemes, so it was very early on.
They specifically wanted a black jersey, and were really pushing for it to be grey/silver instead of yellow and with FLAMES in script, not CALGARY. I really didn't like either idea...
Looks like the project was put on hold and then abandoned because the NHL switched to the awful Reebok Edge jerseys that gave us the Alberta flag + vertical piping... It's funny that some of their ideas sat on the backburner, like the script + Flaming C logo to get used in the cowboy yolk 3rd.
Man Reebok was just awful for the nhl. Just shoddy terrible designs
