...and it's pretty crazy that we still have Suniev, Reschny, Potter, Basha, Brzustewicz, Mews, Battaglia, Stromgren, Misa, Kerins, Kuznetsov and Sergeev all in the system too. This is awesome.

I think the dressing room will also benefit from the youthful enthusiasm and naivety guys like Parekh, Gridin, and Honzek will contribute. I have no doubt they will be sheltered and introduced to responsibility slowly, but as one of the fans that believe in Conroys strategy of building from within I’m excited to see fresh faces full of potential.

It was really refreshing not having any pto's this year.

Good. TSN has a terrible record at predictions.

JFresh has the Flames finishing in a tie for last overall with San Jose, in case anyone cares what the JFresh model says.

Looks like 92 was Gridin's number in the USHL as well.

I’m not worried at all about the defense tbh, I worry that our back-up goalies will cost us. Wolfie can’t be expected to play 82 games…

Edit: I don't know what's most laughable, the Flames with 72 points, the Oilers with 109 points, or the Sabres with 94. And what's with the prediction that the Jets will finish 5th in the Central and probably miss the playoffs?

Totally agree, he could also draft another Gridin with their pick

Let Zayne play!

Hutson is a smurf at 5'9 170lbs and was a tire fire defensively his first 50 games or so, let Zayne go, he's a smart guy and will figure it out.

Just to throw more drama in the mix ...
Out of left field they throw Parek and Andy on the ice as a.pairing and defensively it's 50/50 but they explode offensively like a dynamite in a prairie dog burrow.
Just want to see it play out that way for CP explosion.

Poor Honzek, literally in the thread title but isn't listed in your post or the one you quoted.

I am with some others in that our biggest issue going into the season is the backup goalie. I am shocked we didn't put in a waiver claim on the goalies that were available. I absolutely have zero confidence in Cooley.
Excited for the two youngsters making the team - haven't been this excited in quite a while to see their progress this year, even thought I know it will have growing pains along the way.
This offseason took forever, so glad we are finally seeing some meaningful games and getting back into the grind.

Signing a vet backup would have been the smart move. Misstep from Conroy, unless this is his way of getting a couple extra losses down the road (which obviously, not his goal).

If backup goaltender ends up being the Flames main issue then it's probably going to be a decent season. IMO there's bigger problems on this roster than the backup goaltender which is why the pundits are ranking the Flames so low.

The roster does look pretty bad on paper, unless Gridin is a contender for the Calder and Coronato is flirting with 40
Also, at some point we are going to trade Rasmus Andersson.
