Anyone have their minds made up enough to go ahead with the Advance Voting starting today?

I plan to this week. Likely won’t be available on the 20th to vote.

Ward 1 here. The wasteland of "always conservative."
I wonder about Farkas from a backbone perspective. Does he have it in him to stand up for Calgary, as the province continues to try to push their way into municipal politics. But I'm also reminded that he's only one vote on the council.
Gondek's first term was not that stellar, but it's the unknown of other candidates that worries me. At least with her, you kind of know what you're getting. I'd like to go with Thiessen but wondering if that's just throwing away a vote.
For councillor I'm leaning towards Dan or Joey.
For school trustee, Jenny Regal.

Yes. Seems like a good opportunity to teach the kids about elections and civic duty.
Also, I personally feel that the more we use advance voting, the more it shows to the system that it is more valuable to have longer voting windows than the ridiculous single day voting concept.

Gondek was also kind of like the provincial NDP in their one term, much less bad in the later half than they were at the start. She was far too idealistic and performative after first getting elected, but seemed to tone that down as time went on and the reality of the job sunk in

The moderator didn't really moderate at any point. People rambled and went off topic frequently.

Pretty much. In the second half I was skimming regularly because they kept repeating each other's points but trying to be more incendiary than the last person.
My thoughts from before about all the Ward 14 candidate websites still apply!

Been watching all of the debates and even though he's supposedly grown, he's still got this snark that puts me off. And it seems like his main platform policies are:
- he's not affiliated with a municipal party
- he's against the new arena
Not ground breaking stuff.
In one debate Thiessen had a big zinger when he was accusing Farkas of always working alone and not being a team-player, saying that he even took his PCT walk by himself.

I heard Thiessen on the Eye Opener this morning. He actually sounds pretty intelligent and civic oriented.

Do you just need to bring ID to the advance vote place?

Thiessen is not wrong.... To repeat myself from like 20 pages ago: I think Farkas would do well to get into provincial politics. I think he would stack up well against the UCP and could then work to get himself into a ministry in a Nenshi government.
Obviously, my hope is that he would run in Calgary-Bow and knock out sticky nicky.

I did. Ward 11 at the Riverbend Community Center, about 45 minutes and there were about a couple dozen people ahead of me when I walked in. Apparently been about that busy all day since they opened.
I probably threw my votes away (and really didn’t want to vote for any party…) but voted for Thiessen for mayor, Williams for councillor and Close for public trustee.
I didn’t vote for either Penner or Ward last time and my impressions of them
have not changed since last election, so Williams it was. He was also the only candidate of the three to actually come door to door in our community so far.
I was not impressed with how much Gondek let Danielle Smith walk all over her during her first term, but probably should have strategically voted for her anyways. I don’t Thiessen has a chance but he’s the one I’ve been most impressed with thus far. Either way, I didn’t throw my vote to a UCP shill so I can live with my choice. Close has been the trustee forever so no problems voting for her again.
